Default which dynamat product, where and how much?

ok, so i've decided on using all dynamat stuff for my car.(i know its expensive but that's just what i want to use). my question is, which product do i use and where? I know i'm using dynamat extreme throughout the entire car. thats the nosie barrier that also stops the metal from vibrating, so what about a sound absorbing material on top of it? dynapad for the floors? then dynaliner for the dooors and sides? what about this tac mat stuff? and how many sq. ft. of all this stuff am i going to need? i'm only doing like one layer since i'll be using the extreme plus another layer of absorber material.. and help would be appreciated.

There's no wrong answer, nor "overkill" when damping a car - especially a rattle box, like the tC.

Read through Rick's site: http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?p=ht

Lots of good DIY Tutorials on application and installation- simply substitute the product types for the Dynamat versions (or other brand).

Cheers!

did you just do one layer on both the inside and outside door skin? or multiple layers?

one on the outside and 1 on the inside with a lil bit extra in certain spots on the inside as you can see. it killed a good deal of road noise and also made the midbass and midrange even on the stock speakers really come alive.

RAAMaudio: http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?p=pr

RAAMmat imo is the best deadening material. 1 layer of it with a layer of Ensolite on top(if you really want the most deadening) and you'll be quite happy

sounds like a good amount to start with. the doors will take from 20-30 depending on how crazy you go. i could see the rear quarter panels taking just about as mush as the doors.

I know there's all kinds of other products, cheaper priced and all, but I'm sticking with dynamat products and am just needing to know how many sq. ft. i'll need to do the entire car. (I'm thinking 3 bulk packs=108sq. ft?) and do I use dynaliner on top of it? and dynapad on top of it on the floors? I'm ordering all my stuff next week so I need to know asap

i think 108 should be enough but i think the dynamat xtreme is a waste of money. sure it works good, but stuff like Edead v1se is just as good and a hell of a lot less money, thats for sure. even ebay prices on the dynamat xtreme are crazy.

well i suppose if somebody can tell me what another brands equivelants are for the dynamat extreme, dynapad, and dynaliner, I might go with them... i'm already going to spend a boat load of money for my system, and it would be nice to save some money on the deadner, but it better be top of the line! lol

and i've seen comparisons of all the other brands with ease of use, thickiness, temperature, etc. but never any on the quietness of them. are the others going to make my car as quiet as the dynamat products?

check out elemental designs. the have stuff called Edead. i have used dynamat extreme before and it's great stuff but not worth the high price. the price is so high because of the name. go with the v1se on any metal panel in the car. they also have stuff called V4 that is a foam sound barrier that you can put on top of the v1se as well.

i'm pretty sure the dynapad you are referring to is to go behind the speaker right? if so just use some of the V4 behind the speakers, it does the same thing.

edit: the dynapad is the same stuff as the V4 it's a closed cell foam.

I used about 130 sq ft all over the tc and used 2 layers. This includes floor, hatch, the rear spot where the rear speakers are, doors, the entire car

Didnt help an extreme amount but it did help a little

which product did you use? and did you use an absorber as well, or just the dampner?

after considering the super high prices of dynamat products, even on ebay and the other good brands of products out there, I think I might go with raammat and their ensolite throughout the entire car. I can get all that for MUCH cheaper than dynamat and the others. but will a layer or 2 of raammat and ensolite everywhere be just as good as far as keeping my ride col and quiet?
