Dynamat vs eDead

Dynamat vs eDead
Any information on the difference, benefits, etc between dynamat and eDead. Is eDead as good as dynamat? I see that it's a lot cheaper. Does it serve the exact same purpose and can it handle just as much heat? Anything you guys can tell me would be great. Thanks!

Wow, you're the man neothin. The one thing that that didn't cover is eDead v.4. I'm not sure under which category that would fall. I'm buying this to put on my strut tower for an ingalls stiffy, so it must get pretty hot under there, maybe I should just shell out the money for the dynamat extreme, unless of course the eDead v4 is comprable stuff

well i'll put it this way. your car is never gonna get to those extreme temps. i've had edead in my trunk (soon to be headliner) and its never even moved i'll pay a buck a square foot rather than a buck a square inch

Yea, I know what you're saying, I suppose that I want to play it safe though. A stiffy can really cause some noise from what i'm told, and the thinner deadeners or the asphalt deadeners do less to begin with, and have a much lower temperature rating as we've seen. The eDead v4 is pretty cheap and according to their website, not the same material, so I don't know if I should get that, or the dynamat / dynamat extreme.

You are wasting money if you buy Dynamat. ANY version of eDead or even Peel-N-Seal (in the roofing section at Lowe's) will do just as good of a job as Dynamat. If you use Peel-N-Seal you have to use a heat gun, and make sure you cover all the seams with aluminum tape to keep them from coming up. eDead is very sticky so no heat gun is needed. You spend $12/sq ft on Dynamat if you want to, but I paid $1/sq ft and deadened EVERY surface in my car for less than $200. (that's including the expanding foam in the rear quaters).

they are all good... i have a buddy that used edead and it was very nice stuff.. i went ahead and used dynamat because i basically got it for free... i seemed to notice that the dynamat is a slight touch thicker... i use a heat gun for any sound deadener i put in it lets the tacky side become more plyable... and you can get a better contact like that...
i dont really thing one is better than the other... i i have used just about everything... brown bread, dynamat, raammat, hushmat and edead... the one i like the most just for installation reasons... is the brown bread because it comes on 75ft rolls... and that way its not all crinkled....
but when done correctly... any of these will do the same thing... it just depends on the installation....
