In the meantime I found that my tweeter no longer works and the speaker makes an odd hiss when certain notes are hit. They are JL Audio XR650-CSi and they've been great so far, now it seems like I have to replace them. Just ordered, some Infinity 60.7cs's. Im not sure if they are on the same level, but I'm back in school and really cant afford another set of JL's. We'll see.

I also ordered those foam baffles that look like a black cup holders from Crutchfield. I heard that as long as you cut a decent enough hole in the back for them to breathe, they really help to protect from water and dirt. Again well see.

Hopefully my infinity's don't run into a similiar problem.

Would baffles like these be a better choice to prevent from weather? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=014

I know they're PVC, but will you lose SQ from that? Seems like they'd take wetness better.

Maybe these would've been a better choice, especially since the baffles from ed are almost $30 when you factor in the shipping. On top of that you have to factor in primer/paint making them closer to $40. At $20 shipped these PVC ones a strong alternative. Plus the original speaker baffles were plastic so how much SQ would you lose?

Those seem like a great deal, considering the total price. However, while they won't rot when subjected to water, the speakers themselves will still suffer.

For those seriously concerned about this issue, the best solution would be to kick-panel mount them instead. It wouldn't be much more work than what many people are putting into their doors, and it'd improve SQ at the same time.
