Everybodys Audio Amp Wattage?
What amp wattage is everybody running on their stock alternator with no capacitor? Im running an 1100 watt max amp and got told it was drawing to much and killed my alternator because I didnt have a capacitor. I heard there are some people on here running systems with the same or more wattage as me on stock alternators and no cap and was wondering if you would mention what you have. Let me know if there are any questions on this post. is is only refering to finding out what wattage people are using with no cap and a stock alternator in their tc.

wow........ you have a lot to learn, first there is no such thing as max watts. also watts will not kill your alt, its current. And who told you this? they're retarded
but to let you know i was running the following on stock alt:
DLS A6 - 1200 Watts RMS
DLS A3 - 600 Watts RMS
DLS A2 - 300 Watts RMS

I got told this by Toyota when my alternator died and they said that it was because my amp was drawing to much power out of it and now they wont cover the alternator in my warranty on a brand new car less than a month old and with only 700 miles on. I know quite a bit about car audio and yes I know all of that but I am trying to get what people are using so I can take it to Toyota and say so why is my alternator different than all of these people who have the same stuff and no high output alternator or capacitor. That is what the original post is based off. Thanks for letting me know though

Sundown Saz1500----1500watts (160amp fuse) RMS @ 1 ohm
Zapco DC Reference 1000.4---600watts (100amp fuse) RMS @ 4ohm (or 1000watts if I run 2ohm comps)
So for a grand total of 2100watts with a possibility of up to 260amps drawn.

Hate to say it but you altered the electrical system by adding a stereo system with a large amp.Did you use 0/1 wire to power it off the battery, did you upgrade your battery, did you upgrade your grounds.
Pretty much figure on buying an alternator and installing it it yourself......takes about an hour to do....really.
Do a big 3 and make sure you have good wireing front to back on your system.
Good luck fighting them.Your own statements show alternator is not defective.

Thats BS that an 1100W MAX amp would cause alternator problems. I have 49000 miles on my car, and have had the following in it.
Power Acoustik A2400DB (1800 RMS) on 2 L7s @ 1ohm
and an old Fosgate 400a4 (200RMS) with stock alternator, and no replacement of the big 3.

It could get fried is amp not wired properly, too small of power wire, bad ground, number of things can go wrong and the alt is one of the first places to see the problem and it can easily fail
