Default Factory In Dash GPS for 06 Tc - Options?

My girlfriend has an 06 Tc. She's going to be doing some travelling, and I'm looking to get a GPS for her. Is there a factory model that will fit into the dash, with minimal work, and still work with the wheel controls and iPod integration? I see there was an Alpine in dash unit starting in 08. Will that fit in an 06? Was there a different unit for earlier models? I've also seen some mention of Toyota units possibly fitting. Thanks!

As far as I know....all the CD openings have the same dimension to all the tC from 05-09...So I don't think the OEM navigation only design to fit the newer tC like 08-09 but will also fit 05-07 as well.

If your tC has a wheeling controls then I don't see why it's not the same with the 08-09 models...cd face have some minor changes in the newer model.

If you get a double din GPS/MP3/DVD/iPod in dash unit it can be wired up to work. It requires the unit (your choice) then a wire harness and a little install time.

I did a write up on a F90BT, this will give you a good idea of what it will take to install.

To keep you steering wheel controls, you will need a PAC unit designed for your head unit you choose.

I would go with a aftermarket nav also. I have the pioneer avic-f90bt and love it. Probably will be cheaper than the oem ones.

I'm not very interested in taking the car apart to install it. Although I could do it, I don't want to have to talk her into letting me do it.

That is your only solution for an in dash unit. Other wise keep the window mounted one.

Or take it to a shop, either way if you are going in dash, you have to take the dash apart to get it in.

I guess I'm not that worried about popping the dash off, but getting to the wiring might be a little tougher of a convince job.
