Footwell, glovebox, armrest, dome and lic. plate LEDs (pics)
I wanted to share my latest interior mods. First I swapped the dome lights with white LEDs...
Next I did the footwells. I conected them to the dome light circut so they go on and off with doors...
And then I did the glovebox and both armrest boxes...
Lastly, the licence plate..

woah, that looks pretty cool! i have cathodes installed where the footrests are and also in the back seats and are wired so that they turn on when the doors are opend but i never thought about the glove box or armrest. good thinking! nice stuff

oh, my bad :X well, i'm glad you didnt take my comment the wrong way.
you know what would look different? if you had some individual leds on the pillars .. and wire them to the door so that when you open the doors, it lights up the entire inside. lol

I need to know where you tapped into the wires for the dome. Was it in the circuit box? or under the hood? PLEASE give a pic of this and provide detail. I keep reading to tap into the door trigger, but where exactly and what color is it and I'm confused about the grounding also. PLEASE give us much detail as possible oh mighty one
Really though, where did you tap into and how exactly. I want to wire some cathodes under my door and in footwell to turn on when I open door. I just am not as clear as I should be about where and how to tap into. Plus is it different on the passenger side? Do both turn on with one door open? Once again, pictures would be great also. Thanks in advance! This would be a great help.

i'm not good at explaining how i do stuff but you can search "cathode install" or something using the search. i made a thread not too long ago asking. i got my Qs answered and such in that thread.
anyways, i got this pic from somebody else on this forum. it shows where you should tap into for the positive and negative so that the cathodes turn on and off when the doors open and close. there is another way which involves splicing into the wires near each door but for some reason it didnt work for me so i decided to tap into the fuse box which workers better cuz no matter which door opens, all my cathodes turn on

Thanks for the responses guys. To answer a few questions:
The glove box and armrest lights turn on and off with the headlights. I spliced them into the cubby light under the HVAC controls. The glove box still needs a little tweaking, I need to drill out the holes a little more so that the LEDs protrude out beyond the plastic to get more spill light. As you can see right now it looks like a pair of spot lights.
As for the red color, I'm planning on swapping all the dash/ gauge lights to red and I wanted them to match.
I hooked up the foot well lights using the same method yellowxboy posted. I'm considering adding 12" led tubes under the doors to act as puddle lights, but not until after some non-lighting mods.
I should also point out that the license plate LEDs aren't as bright as they look in the pic.

P.S I like the idea of putting the leds in the arm rest.
