Default Guide on how to install Avic F700BT in tc?

Hey guys sorry if there is a thread for this, I looked but didn't see one. I'm getting an avic f700bt for christmas, and don't really know how to install one. This is my first aftermarker headunit ever. I've installed a toyota one but that was easy because it was already the same everything just unplug two plugs then screw it in but this will be harder because of all the extra wires. I don't know how to install it is what I'm basicly trying to say so does anyone know where I can find a nice guide with pics/vid of how to install one of these?

buy wiring harness.
connect wires from the deck's harness to the wiring harness.

plug it into the car.

if you can't figure that out... i feel bad for you.
(especially when they give you installation instructions with the deck)

If you want to try doing it yourself spend the extra bucks and buy it from Crutchfield. They include the harness and extra simple instructions. However the instructions that Squal gave are pretty much it. The included instructions were pretty good for my suck-___ Avic D3 so I'd imagine that wouldn't change for this new model.

I got it from sonicelectronix so it comes with a wireing harness and the little plastic piece to fit it in the dash better or whatever. I just havn't gotten to look at any of it to see if it will be easy to install or not. Like I said I've never done this and don't really know what to expect. Do I just plug in the car's wireing harness to the new wireing harness then that to the new headunit?

I got it from sonicelectronix for 480 and it came with the wireing harness and the dash kit thing. I didn't realize it came with instructions, shouldn't be hard then

and as you might have read on other posts, you might have to drill new mounting holes about 1/2" back from the factory holes on the radio mount brackets to allow the radio door to close.

Oh so I don't have to use the kit from sonicelectronix? Its this kit:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-+SCN2059.html

But I'd rather just use the stock mounting harness and get to keep the door. I just drill a hole the same size as the normal one but 1/2" back? sounds easy enough

I also got this wireing harness is it the right one?

I watched the same model be installed in my car :D it looked easy!

The site should tell you what parts you need to buy to install it in the tC. If they don't, go to crutchfield and see what they list as needed parts.

Merry Christmas everybody. Woke upat 6:00 AM and opened it up and got installing so I could have it done by church at 10. Crimped all the wires, grounded it, but didn't do anything with the parking brake wire because I don't know what/how to do anything with it.

It works great except I can't acess the settings for navi or system settings and I also can't press the phone buttons, they are dim. Anyone know my problem?

it's because you didn't connect the parking brake wire duh...

visit avic411.com to learn how to bypass the unit as well so you can access stuff during driving.

Yeah I realized that. Right after I posted I went on avic411 then ate breakfast then did the bypass. Everything works great, just took it on a ride and its awesome. Makes me realize I need new speakers as the stock ones blow

actually.. when you switched out the stock deck out, you should've realized how great the stock speakers actually are...

tweak the audio settings in the deck itself and tune it... you'll see.

Well two of my stock speakers are completely blown, dont make any noise at all, and the other two have tons of static past 55 or so volume. But I have 130 towards Bestbuy so I think I'm going to get a new set. Are speakers any harder to install?

I had a bad experience with my local audio shop, so I basicly have to do it all myself. My dad says he knows how to install speakers so I guess I should be good. Also, my sub blew today. I knew it was getting close because sometimes when I would get to volume 60 on the stock headunit the amp would cut out to protect the sub and it started doing that at a lower and lower volume on the new headunit then it just stopped haha
