Umm, if you hardwire it into the lights in that cubby hole, doesn't it only work when the headlights are on?? I guess if you leave the daytime running lights on all the time then its not a big deal.

I've got the Escort 8500 and I hardwired it into the cigarette lighter. Mounted above the rearview mirror, works great.

Well I clamped the T-tap to the sunroof orange wire, and just plug in the red wire from the V1 direct-wire kit. Grounded the black wire to a piece of metal nearby. thats it!

Yeah I hardwired it to the cubbyhole, and it does only turn on when the headlights are on, but I leave my headlights on all the time..

pop off your dome light: pull down on side where buttons are located, rear is hooked on:

tap orange (ACC) wire from sunroof control for 12v and ground on chassis

voila!

Do you have the remote display module? I thought about trying to hardwire it up there, but I have side airbags, and can't get the wire down the a-pillar for the remote display.

i also have side airbags... so i didn't wana run any wires down the A-pillar. but uh... either way, i didn't get a concealed display... so nothin to wire!

Eiso, how is the reception with the V1 mounted up there and is the V1 visible from the outside? the place where i mounted it is way out in the open, so i put away the V1 everytime i park just to be safe.

Well I dont really speed on highways, I think speeding over 60-65 is very dangerous. But sometimes, cop likes to hide along in those small roads where speed limit is 30, and sometimes I do 34-35 in them, and I dont wanna get caught by this little. It saved me a bunch of times.

Good point. That's the time when ya want to speed, when the speed limit is marked at -watch the beaurtiful scenary pace- when you got places to be driving around town. If that's what ya meant.

I think thats do-able, 05-RS1!!! If you have everything that come with the V1, there should be a long cord that can run around the pillar to get the power for the V1

The red lines are the plan. For a second (well a couple of days actually) I thought you were trying to tell me that the air freshner was a radar detector in desquise.

Valentine has the shortess " defeat RDD's and RDD's counteract" range. Should I get a valentine or that new STI one, it cost an awful lot.

u said you just got the new valentine, tell us a got away from a ticket story or post a pic of your install, is it stealthy or did you just stick it to the window like most?

Here is a pic to show how I have my V1 set up, unfortunately I lost my flat cord so I just used the curled one... Oh well, not a big deal for me.

And here is what it looks like at night...

Eiso, i wasnt planning to run it all the way up the pillar or anythin. i was wondering if there was anythin below the driver side pillar i could hardwire to. i was just going to find some wire and cut my curly cord and tap a straight wire to it and find somewhere to hardwire it down there or somethin.
