Hatch Hydraulic Problem

I am having problems with the trunk it just is not comming up as easy as it use to.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend some upgrades so that the trunk would fly up. It use to glide up when I barely gave force now I have to force it up.
Any suggestions would be nice

^ I've noticed it too, I have hit my head on the hatch a couple times because it doesn't open up as much like it used to.

I've noticed cold weather affects the hatch struts. But also, i think it was in 05 they were replacing the hatch struts with updated parts.

Not sure if 06 and 07 owners are now having the same problem. Best bet would probably be to forget toyota's parts (unless under warranty, and free) and go over to your local NAPA parts store and get some hatch struts from them. A lot cheaper, would last longer too.

naw. the colder it is the more resistence in the fluid. its a fluid property of hydraulic fluid. nothing u can do about it.

No u can get heavier duty hatch struts.
Mine is an 06 and I have the same problem. Not only in winter.

not really stuck. It just needs to be manually lifted up or it will stay stationary.

Mine actually came down on me (Cause of weight of spoiler) and hit me in the back and hurt reallly bad lmaooo.

Get the heavy duty ones if you have a spoiler

Like I said before, check out your local NAPA autoparts store. They have good prices and good quality struts. Stronger than stock.

If I get those spoiler hatch opener things will it lift a lot better even though I do not have a spoiler

Yes. The spring is stronger than the stock one.

BTW I'd go ask yr dealership to fix the problem.

That's what I'll be doing. It's not possible that a new 1 yr old car has this issue already. I'm not payin to replace them.

should be under warranty.

you know they're pneumatic struts right?

think about it.. if they were hydraulic..... when you close the hatch.... where does the hydraulic fluid go??? and how would it push back up on it when you open the hatch?

a magic hydraulic pump that's invisible?

warranty wise.... it's covered if there's a defect in it... is there one? most likely not... just a wear and tear item...
