you know they're pneumatic struts right?

think about it.. if they were hydraulic..... when you close the hatch.... where does the hydraulic fluid go??? and how would it push back up on it when you open the hatch?

a magic hydraulic pump that's invisible?

warranty wise.... it's covered if there's a defect in it... is there one? most likely not... just a wear and tear item...
Meh I don't care
I'll mention something along the lines of my sis being a lawyer
I'm NOT paying
No you SHOULDNT have to pay. I didn't know it was only 1 year old. they yeah it's definitely covered under the warranty. Make them give you two new ones if they're failing. It's not like they didn't fail on the 05's as well. There was a service bulletin out for that.

if you guys threw dynamat or similar stuff in your hatch that would also account for the heavier weight.

does anyone know the lift capacity of the heavy duty struts?

I never put anything on my hatch
not even my purse
Nor anything huge inside the trunk

Yeah keep us posted.. And maybe if they write down on your bill what the new part numbers are of the new struts, that would be good for us to know too. In case Toyota quietly updated the parts again.

And you're right, free is good!
