headunit recommendation.. Avic F900BT vs. D3?
I need help choosing a headunit w/ navigation, currently debating over avic d3 vs avic F900BT... budget is around 1K.. the avic f series are pretty new, i havent been able to know about them. Its for my wife's car and what she is looking for is good navigation, ipod, dvd, hands free and design. Which one you guys suggest? any other headunit you recommend?

they're pretty much the same....it's just that the avic F900BT has a built in bluetooth and u do not have to have a disc in order to activate the navigation...as far as the price...the d3 is a lot cheaper now( $500 in some places)...plus loading time for avic F900BT is a lot slower....

i will look into kenwood but i prefer pioneer, i have the avic z1 and im kinda used to the controls and stuff.. the bluetooth of the d3 is fine? no echo or feedback from the other party? avic F iv heard has same issues with the z series

I was the same way with the wanting to stick to Pioneer.
Right out of the box without any kind of adjustments the 8120 blew away Pioneer in the SQ department. If you have decent mids and tweets you will instantly notice a differance.
The load time is about 10-15 secs but your audio starts right up
no echo on the 8120's bluetooth either

I hate the f series and I will say it time and time again. I have the D3 and love it. I have installed so many of these and the F series takes like 5 minutes to do the initial load, and forget a back up camera because by the time it loads your allready done backing up.

The kenwood has amazing GPS because it is made by Garmin where as the D3 lacks a little on. I like the D3 because of the gauges you can have on it. Such as voltage, acceleration, side exceleration, g-forces. But if you want to shell out money you can always get the HKS camp 2 and put it on your kenwood and have even more gauges.

(go with the Kenwood) :D
Look on eBay...there's a guy I bought mine from that runs a car audio shop up north. He is constantly getting refurbed dnx8120's in directly from Kenwood and putting them on eBay. You'll save about 50% off regular retail price.
internal Garmin navi, internal bluetooth, 7" screen, 15 band EQ , 2 rear USB ports, backup cam ready, satelite ready, etc. etc.

Idk, I'm not liking what I'm seein with the kenwood. I think I might go with a F90BT, pick it up for $799.99 from Sonic Electronix (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...VIC-F90BT.html), or pay a little more to Jeff at longo, which is what I think I'm gonna do.

I have an F700 and it is certainly not 5 minutes. I do agree on the camera part though. But for actual start up time... music will play within 15-20 seconds from cd or radio (30+ if using iPod). And it's ready to go in just over 1 minute. I've timed mine.
It is a bit annoying, but not as awful as everyone makes it out to be.

I'm glad I saw this thread, I'm between these two HU's for my own setup right now, I can get a D3 on the cheap through a friend who's upgraded so it really looks like I'm going that route
I have a bluetooth earpiece already anyway (Jawbone 2 no less...) so built in BT wasn't a big deal to me anyway, neither is nav really... just double din and touchscreen and ipod matter to me.
