i also have a question..... after i connected my iPod using a mini-to-RCA cable to the AVN5435, I can hear a faint whistling sound whenever I accelerate.. if I put it on mute or pull the cable out of the iPod, the sound stops.. anyone know what this is attributed to?

TxtC112,

I think u hooked it up right... u will not be able to display the song titles and artist in your AVN5435 but u will be able to view videos and movies. This is the only thing that suxs bout Eclipse other than that am very happy bout it. Jst need to change the video setting of your ipod. TV Out should be set to ON. This setting should take about 30 secs or less to change before you can view the music vids and movies. I have the same HU and ipod - had the same issue before.
Hope this helps u... Latz!

Nu-Nu - that is probably an alternator whine that you are hearing. Hook up a ground loop isolator and the whistling will go away. I have one laying around if u need, let me know.

It is a rca cable on both sides. You put it between the 2 pieces causing the alternator whine and it should eliminate it.

ahh, so to verify. would this be the order of the parts you connect?

iPod -> mini-to-RCA cable -> ground loop isolator -> AVN5435 head unit

Is the ground loop isolator female on one side and male on the other end? I can try going to radio shack and pick one of those up.

yea, that sounds right to me, as long as the mini-to-rca cable has male rcas, b/c the ground loop isolator is 2 females
