Default I can NOT get this car loud!!!

2010 tC
Alpine CDA-117
JL 450/4 and a 300/2 running a 3 way active front stage, Hertz HT28s, HV165 XLs, and JL ZR800s.
DC 5K running a pair of DC XL m2 12s
Excessive amperage 200 amp HO with 4 full runs of 1/0 connecting 3 XS D3400s.
A LOT of deadner

I have the back seat pulled out with the amp racks taking up that space and the box is slid back to about the middle of where the seat would be. This time I tried a 6th order style box with the subs firing into the hatch and port rear. The most I have managed to pull is a 55 sealed up. My freind is running 4 DD3512s in his and can only pull a 49.9. He had his box to far back at first and was cutting off the port flow. Moved it up 6 inches and gained about 4dbs. We are about the same in that case. His box is closer to the front seat but its also a lot bigger.

I know this set up has at least a 50 in it, it has to. The 6th order is very flat and musical but I still think the numbers should be higher, maybe not a 50 with it but damn close. I'm staring to think subs back may be a better option, when I had junk prefabs firing back they seemed better in a sence.

Is there anybody here pulling those numbers on a TL? How are you doing it? I'll post some pics when i get home later. I'm about fed up here!

question i've got...are you metering from the window or the kick panel (USACi style)? because i've found in mine that i got an extra 2db when mine was metered in the kick panel compared to the windshield (not near 150's but still 2db jump is pretty massive from mic placement)

Window sealed up(legal). Thats normal when throwing it in the kick.

Burps.. But its still a music box so I'm not expecting crazy numbers. This car likes to peak low. Also MECA park and pound, its a 30 second music average 6 feet away from the car. Combo of doors and windows open.

Im on all the bigger audio forums but most people always say subs up port back in a hatch. The way our trunks are layed out I dont think we are the norm. the way it slants down in the back is the difference

hmm yea usually hatches are that way. i know i saw much difference facing up than i did straight back. (sealed box) i'd almost think port facing the front or the hatch (i've seen one tc that had a L7 15 that was built facing up and the port facing up but not sure how it was or was ever metered)

Dont get me wrong. Its really loud right now I just know it has more in it. As a daily drive its about as much as you can handle. I have no problem winning every local show in the area but I cant compete in the class I'm stuck in at the real sanctioned events. I'm up against 15s with just as much power in SUVs.

What is that port tuned for? 45-50hz for burp and I'm sure you'll gain(depending on the resonate frequency of your car). If this is a daily box maybe build a removable port insert, if you're serious that is. I never tried making my tc loud but my integra sub up port up worked best. Good luck.

Tuned at 35 on this box. I'm not going to give up daily listening to get it loud. Thats why i got this kind of power so I wouldnt have to. We built a teg a while back, it was subs up and worked good also.

Try subs back port back. I had 2 12s in my car facing back tuned to 31hz off 4cf airspace. I also had an 18 facing up and facing back. It always seemed louder facing backwards with the port in my car. maybe that helps you, ive been out of the audio game for a while now lol

The subs are pulled out right now and the doors are still cut open. I just have the 6.5s and the 8 in a baffle cause I needed noise. I wasnt to happy with how the pods came out. I cant start rebuilding them till the end of this month. I smoked one of the subs at the last show, ended up taking second to the loudest trunk car in the nation but I lost by 10dbs. This 6th order is very picky on filter settings and i just eyeballed the LPF after the show. So one of the XLs caught on fire on the long drive home! It happens when your running 2500+ to a single sub full tilt for 45 minutes straight
