Inverted the subs in Bassforms boxes
Well here is waht I ran out of time to do prior to Drift..........I know CJ is waiting for me to do this......this is step one......I am holding off on painting them till I get the final pieces doen inside and see what needs done.......do not want to over kill the look.......so I am being patient.......which is hard to do........well here are the pictures........it was 6pm when I started, had a hell of a time getting a good seal on the subs........that is why it is dark when I took pictures.......sound on them is way differant, the D3 has a reverse polarity for subs built into the deck so they are now inverted and reverse polarity to push out like normal......the larger airspace in the boxes is giving a better sound.....the lows are clear at a lower hz.........my guess is 40-70hz is clean and hitting now and 80hz up is not as much......befroe it was 30-50 was dull and 50-80 hit hard......much better.......
So here are the pictures........
running 600w to the pair.......no distortion at all very clean.....massage to the body ........blows the hair playig 50cent Candy Shop........freaking loud.......great subs for $65 each........lol

The are the Bassforms boxes, only hold 10s......to get 12s you have to pretty much make them from scratch......the bassforms boxes are decent, there is a lot of fitment work to get them to fit in the car, floor has to be raised, boxes have to be sanded to fit,my drivers side one still needs soem work to get a better fit.

yeah it sounds better on the lows now.was talking to a friend and he is pretty sure the larger airspace in the boxes is helping bring out a deeper sound,to invert them you have to either swap the + and - on the amp or on the deck it may have a reverse polarity option for the subs as the D3 does.
as for the suede I got it off of ebay,it is upolstery suede and it will fade in time too........pretty sure the only type that does not fade is the ultra suede, but it is kinda cheap feeling, mine feels just like suede......but they fade out pretty quick no matter what you do.....mine is more a Espresso color than a black and so in the sun it has a redish brown black look to it but in the shade looks black as can be.

In this particular instance they sound slightly "better" because he gained some additional airspace, which lowers the resonant frequency (Fs, or F3 in-box) a little, enabling lower frequency output and helping to eliminate uneven response (midbass hump).

yeah the bassforms boxes are really small inside and with the subs in side they lose even more room, the ID subs are kinda low profile so they did not take up too much space inside but enough to make a differance flipping them over, when they were in the boxes the magnet caps were not on them, the caps are pretty huge......still got some tuning to do and probably need to polyfill the boxes as I took it out during the install as they were collectiing milkshake dust something bad.......lol.

^ Start with just 4 ounces of fill in each, and listen. Increase fill by 4 ounces and listen again, but don't go over 12 ounces for such a small enclosure and the inverted configuration. Let your ears be your guide, you'll know when you've got the right amount, although there won't be a huge difference in sound between the various amounts of fill material.

thanks that is awsome to know.......seems like last time I had only about 4 oz in it and it sounded better and then I started to reshape the boxes and took it all out and have not gotten back to putting back in......I will try it like that,I need to open them up and get a cleaner seal on the ring and some chunkier screws.
