JL Audio 10w7 sealed box
Hey everyone,
few questions about a sub box. I just bought a 10w7 with a 500/1 amp. I need to buy/get a sub box made. I want a sealed box but i'm not sure if i should buy it online or get it made. i saw the following on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SUBWOOFER-BO...QQcmdZViewItem
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/JL-Audio-10W7-Se...QQcmdZViewItem
I'm not sure if there are any websites or companies that make sealed boxes good enough for a 10w7. please let me know what do you guys think..if i should buy any1 oof this or if anny1 can recommend sub box dimensions that i can get made from a local auto shop.
thanks in advance.[/url]

any1 else have any comments or recommendations. i called around local auto shops and they are askin for at least 100+ for making a custom box. so i'll probably be ordering the 2nd one above. please let me know any feedback..
thanks.
thanks.

Ya, that second one looks better of the two, IMO. Custom boxes aren't cheap. I just had Dr Isotope make one for the Polk sub I just bought (it's on a UPS truck right now) and it was right around the price of that second one:

thanks for the replies.
i just bought the 2nd sub box posted above. regarding to the pics you posted above, i think i see polyfill? in that box. are you planning to put polyfill in yours and do you think i should as well. will it produce more accurate bass?
thanks for all your help

just make sure the vol per cu.ft is correct for your sub and youre all set
poly fill does two things. it dampens vibration, some boxes have a reverb in them and that is actually heard through the port is ported box is used. in a sealed box it actually tighten bass response. the more poly fill you use the higher the HZ will be and tighter it will sound. you can measure it using an RTA . add or subtract fill until you get the correct tune you want to acheive. never use fiberglass insulation you will regreat it in the end, plus its not safe to use.

Another question.. i just bought some polyester fiberfill from walmart and 3M 77 adhesive spray. so, how do i put the poly fill in the sub box?
Should i spray one side of the box at a time and then just pressure down some polyfill on that side? oh yea, my polyfil is not like a pad, i think i have to 'tear' it apart...looks like a pillow rite now...should i cover the all 5 sides besides the opening?
thanks,
pesh

I meant i bought 'loose' polyfil. walmart also had polyfil 'sheets' would it be easier to use the polyfil sheets to stick to the sub box or use the loose polyfil if its better for the sub box however i don't want any loose fibers gettin in the cone and messing up the subwoofer...
please help and let me kno even if what i'm sayin is right or not.
thanks
