JL Audio Vs Elemental Designs

JL Audio Vs Elemental Designs
After getting my wheels, I'm preparing for my new project....My audio set-up....
The goal of my setup is go get good overall sound with some punch.. I dont want to be running mad bass.
So, I was thinking about going with a full ed setup....
Mainly going with 6500's and sq10 with tcbox running a nine4.
But Now i'm thinking going w/ JL audio
From JL I'm thinking 300/4 amp, 10w3v3 and xr650-csi.
The box for the w3 would be a sq10 style box but just raising the floor. For the amp I'm going to a false floor with cut-out to show the amp in center. Now matter what I'm going to edead the car...
So What are pro and cons of either set-up..

i'll post here what i posted on scikotics for you
Advantages of eD:
- Free tech support for life
- 5 year warantee
- good price point
- proven performance
- great sound quality
Advantages of JL
- Good name
-hits hard
Disadvantages of eD
- Doesn't hit as hard as some people like but the sq of the speakers more than makes up for it
Disadvantages of JL
- Extremely expensive considering the pricepoint of eD
- 1 year warantee
- raised floor
- oh yeah.... expensive

i never said 13w7 i was implying a 10w7 considering they were talking about 10's
i bet you my 15's beat a 13w7 anyday of the week.
and yes i'm 100% serious. i've owned jl audio for a long period in my life and wasn't a believer of eD until i went to their stuff.

hmm. maybe I don't understand. Why would you be referring to 10s only but then post a picture of your 15s?
I have never heard any of eDs stuff, would they be similar to IDQs of Image Dynamics? If so I would say that a ported 13w7 would have superior output to two sealed 15 IDQs.
In any event, good luck with your decision thread starter.

meh not necessarily.
with the pricepoint of the 13w7 compared to other speakers i would never buy one again. for a grand i was able to buy my 16ov.2's, amp, wiring and build my sub enclosures. i would be able to buy a 13w7 for that price. AND CONSIDERING you've never heard them how can you judge which would be better?
don't bash something until you've tried it. don't argue a point until you've experienced it. the system i have right now is low 150's with great sound quality for less than a grand for the subs / amps / wiring / enclosures. in order to get that output you'd have to port (vent) a 13w7 and buy a 1000/1. plus wiring so you're looking at almost double for sloppier sound. just don't rofl at me next time when you don't know what your talking about.

I will concede that I have never heard them, but I was under the understanding that they are more of a SQ subwoofer, than SPL maybe even a SQL woofer. That is why I asked if they are similar to ID. If that is wrong then my apologies.
Your next statement is foolish. Ported boxes are sloppier? How can you make such blanket statements of nonsense? Many variables go into a enclosure design and it is apparent that you did not know what you were doing when you tried to design a ported enclosure. One can make a large sealed enclosure sound boomy and muddy and one can make a ported enclosure have great transient response. My friend it is you that doesn't know what you are talking about.

Either way you'd probably be very happy with the setup.
Personally, I find the 6500s more laid back on the top end than those xr's. My old roommate was running them when I bought my 6500s 3 years ago and threatened to steal the 6500s.
As for the sub, they'd probably end up pretty similar output-wise. You'd end up with pretty much exactly the 150 watts JL states, whereas the bridged channels of a Nine.4 will get up around 220 or so at 4 ohms(tested it myself).
Difference between regulated and unregulated power supply.
I think it really comes down to how much you're looking to spend as well as the places you'd be buying. eD would be straight from us with free tech support for life. JL would be from a local dealer(if you have a good one, that's a bonus) if you have a crappy one, you'd probably end up going through eBay = no warranty on the product but would save some $$$.
Either way, I'm pretty sure you'd be pretty happy with your system.

Well I called Ed today and this what they suggested and for the price... I think this is what I'm going with
eDi 6500 or DSL UP6
DLS CA31 Amplifier
eDead v3 - 3 gallons
SQ10 S4 Subwoofer
Scion tC Stealth enclosure
