like blaze said its kinda more of your preference
i cant really say anything about mtx cuz ive never owned anything of their stuff but i know 2 10w6v2 were plenty loud for my matrix so im sure itd be even louder in a smaller car like the tc.
i also have some jl audio xr653 3 ways that im thinking about selling if your interested =)

In my own personal opinion, JL is great, especially the w7's but I would go with Rockford Fosgate and get two 10" T2's they will blow the 12" w7's away...plus I honestly believe that 10's in a hatch are 10x better then 12's...Imma be getting the two 10" T2's with the 1000 watt monoblock amp they have...great great setup, I promise...

I have 2 10w6v2 on a custom fiberglass enclosure. very loud, the good thing with 10w6, you don't need a lot of space
with w7 it will be really loud on a small tC and you will use up quite a bit more space too. I can still carry 2 travel bags
plus laptops & small items in the trunk enough for a week vacation in my trunk after my cutom fiberglass box is in.
In the end you need to decide what is important to you....I got the best of both world, loud bass & space to haul stuff
and access to spare tire.

This should be an argument of JL vs Memphis. MTX is like rockford, its ambiguous...

JL vs MTX.... JLs no question.

JL is FAR superior to MTX.

But for bang for the buck, MTX will outperform JL.
Everyone read that clearly, I didnt not say MTX outperforms JL. But for the money it does.

if you are on a budget, you will get a better sounding system for the same money going with MTX. But if you have the money to spend, you will have a MUCH better, and longer lasting system with JL.

I dont have any experience with eclipse. I have a pioneer headunit that is ok. Alpine has nice headunits, but they are price.

I'd say go with either Memphis or Audiopipe. I know neither are options.

I myself have 2 10" MTX in a very large ported box in my xB and they surprise more people than they disappoint.

FYI, the JL monoblock amps are not the most efficient. That being said, they do provide a constant power from 11.6-14.8 VDC input and on loads of 1.5 - 4 Ohms. Also, they have a crap load of onboard crossover and power features, including an infrasonic filter and selectable Q. The nicest thing I found on the amp is the RCA connects are hard mounted to the amp housing, not just sticking through it and only supported by the circuit board solder tabs on the back end.

For amps, if you are going for pure power and loudness Memphis might serve you better, but if you are looking for high quality sound over a range of music types (daily listening) go with JL.

On the subs, the w7's are overpriced for their output, but not overrated. I think in a tC the w6's would be better since they don't need massive abounts of box space. A single 13w6v2 or a pair of 8w7's would do quite nicely on a 500/1 amp.

I'm running a single 8w7 in a sealed box off of a 250/1, it's nice but not quite loud enough for me. I'm in process of upgrading to two 8w7's, a 500/1 and ported boxes, should be quite an improvement. Good luck and watch out for JL dealers on eBay, JL won't honor the warranty so make sure the eBay dealer has their own. I know SonicElectronix ships JL subs AS IS with no garentee of them working, though they do state that in the listings.
