SAVE YOUR MONEY...IMHO! if its really burning a whole in yur pocket, get a nice subwoofer and amp and you'll get plenty of enjoyment listening to your music..Performance mods are a waste of time, unless your turboing.

IMHO, Window tint is one of the #1 appearance mods.... it'll make it look SOOO good!!! that and a sub/amp combo would be my only 2 choices....

Window tint has crossed my mind, and now that I have read the replies performance mods do seem a bit pointless unless I go turbo or S/C. I like the amp and sub idea as well. as far as apperance are there any good kits out there that are closer to the factory lip kit?

if I went the sub and amp route which would all of you recommend?

I thought about a carPC, but I think the installation costs would be a bit too much...

thanks again and keep the suggestions coming

as far as the sub and amp, there are tons of choices.... I'd say JL w1v2 with a 250/1 amp would give you good sound in a proper sealed box....

ok, this is where things get tricky for me, I dont want a box that is huge nor that slides around all over my trunk, I really like some of these flush mounted subs and custom boxes that fit perfectly along the sides of the trunk, is there a company that sells something like these or would I have to get one made for me. I dont really have access to suitable tools and I dont have a place to build my own right now, what are my choices here?

sorry for the noob questions

There is an enclosure made by someone to fit right in the compartment to the right of the spare tire... I can't find it on here though... I know there are other people who have built their own enclosures to fit in that spot...

I have seen quite a few on here and most of them look great, I saw a FM fiberglass inlay for sale on the classifieds that was nice, but it was FM. lol

I guess Im just gonna have to keep looking until I see something that absolutely catches my eye.

I want to eventually replace all component speakers and add a new HU, amp, and sub.
I also would like to add LED to speaker compartments and vents and figured I could do all the speakers and led at the same time

thanks for the replies and suggestions, if you think of anything else leave a post

My advice: Keep the stock HU, with a nice Line output converter you can get good sound out of it.

Unless you're gonna get the W7 or W6, the JL subs are WAAY overpriced and overhyped. The base model JL subs (W0 and W3) are no better than ANY other sub you'll find out there...only more expensive.

For a conservative setup (save trunk space) I'd get either one 10" or 12" in a small sealed enclosure and try to feed it about 250 watts. As far as bang for the buck brands I'd recommend: Alpine, Audiobahn, Infinity, MTX, even RF...you should be able to find nice equipment at your local best buy or circuit city. Don't let anyone tell u you need high end stuff like JL, focal, boston, MB quart...TRUST me...You'll be totally satisfied with my recommendations

^^ that's where ebay comes in.... no need for warranty if you hook it up right, so don't feed that too....

ok, I dont know much about subs, amps and definitely not how to hook them up. If I where to install this stuff myself,

1. Do I have to pull up carpet to run wires?
2. Do I have to remove interior panels?
3. Do I have to take apart the dash?
4. Will the stock electrical system support this?

SCI_TC_GUY: how do you like the rockford-fosgate components? I saw them at bestbuy and they looked real nice. when I went to buy them the salesman told me that I needed an amp cause the stock HU couldnt handle them, is this true?

I think I will go with a new audio set up and maybe video as well if I can afford it and find a good installer in my area.

keep the suggestions coming

thanks again

Yes you have to pull up a part of the carpet
Yes you have to pull apart some interior trim pieces
You'll need to take apart the center console to tap into the stock wiring for a Line Output Converter or if you want to install a new HU...
Stock electrical is having NO problem supporting my 800wattsRMS... so you should be fine... mandos had 1200RMS on his tC and he said it worked fine....

I don't have rockford components... I have JL Audio VR components with rockford amps.... the main reason I don't like rockford components is the fact that they have 2 tweeters.... all that will do is cause cancellation and staging/imaging issues... Almost all component systems will require an external amp and the ones that don't HAVE to have an amp, would sound 10x better WITH an external amp... If you're not familiar with audio or auto-electronics, I'd suggest getting a buddy that knows what they're doing or go to a reputable audio shop (Best Buy, Circut city etc. are TERRIBLE places to get installs done)

I agree with everything SCI has said. However, I STRONGLY recommend getting tint if you don't have it yet. It is oh so nice........ 20% all around imo.

As far as Fosgate goes, the amps are great and their woofers are pretty good, but please don't get those components! (but if you do, then yes- you will need, or at least want, a new amp for them)

Just need to finish my damn grill for it....i've been putting it off toooo long.

Skizzle, that looks, really nice. Did you have to remove the spare tire?

Is that MDF you used to make the box and did you have to raise the floor in the trunk?
It looks like you had to raise it about 1/4" or so.

Any details you can give me would be great

Thanks
