the floor may be raised, but not by much...the top mdf sheet sits right on top of the styrofoam compartments...it is 3/4 mdf. I did have to ditch the spare tire...I keep it in the garage because I go from home to work and that's about it...when I go out of town, I put the spare behind the passenger seat....It doesn't stain anything cuz it's never been used. I built a big box and put it in the back and hated the fact that I had no room for anything.... this idea was good for me, because the sub is recessed in the floor and takes up zero space... I need to work on my grill for it....

It's a .5 cu ft box sealed....my last box was ported with the same sub and amp and it was too damn loud and didn't sound right....sealed is the way to go in my opinion...i get better mid base and it's punchier (i think that's a word) on heavy metal type songs and some country...I primarily listen to rap./hip hop and it sounds good too...Overall i'm pleased with it despite 86'ing the spare.

oh and one piece of advise...

Measure Measure Measure and when you think it's perfect, measure again. It sucks hauling 4' x 8' MDF in your trunk ( cut in 3 pieces that is) when you screw up and run out of wood.

I applaud your ingenuity, but like you said...you still Lost the SPARE and you are still kinda limited in storage, based on the fact that you can't put anything on top of the sub!

Plus, a .5 cu foot enclosure, minus speaker displacement is BARELY enough volume to get that sub pumpin'!

^^ it is the entry level Memphis, so .5 cu ft can suffice.... maybe try some poly fill

Does anyone make a fiberglass box to fit on the side of the trunk next to the wheel well?

It would be sweet to have one on each side painted in SW

^^ only problem is you would have cancellation issues cause the subs would be firing toward eachother..

damn, well I guess one would look good as well. Would there be any problems with having two subs on the same side?

No problems as long as the subs aren't facing eachother....

It actually sounds better than you think. I've never built a box this small but i'm impressed with it. I couldn't tell a difference w/ or without the poly fill so I took it out. if you fiberglass you could easily get 1.5 cu ft out of the well alone from what I measured....

I can still put stuff in the back, I just need to finish my damn grill so I can continue doing so without worries.

Please all suggestions are welcome, Im having trouble thinking of stuff, this money is burning a hole in my pocket, im ready to spend like a drunken sailor.

Thanks

Bob

if you havent figured out what your gonna do already(i saw this post really late)
save your money...
Get another 500 or so and go get a decent sound system...then once you grab some more cash head over and get some visuals or performance(i went visuals first)
depends how much your looking to put into the car as well
Good Luck

Im still not positive what Im gonna do with the 500, I still have a tax return and 2500 bonus coming in april.

I would like to get a subtle lip kit and 18" wheels for the summer, so I have a few things to get.

on the list:
tint
trd springs
lip kit
amp and sub
components
avic-d1 (maybe not till christmas time)

and im sure there is more theres always more

Sound good bro...take things step by step.

My opinion, go with either minor visuals or sound first(those are the two cheapest things)get some tint with underglow or little things, stay away from performance for now.maybea lip splitter and a stock spoiler..

good luck to ya
