Default Kicker sub, need amp!

Subwoofer: Kicker CVX 12"
Amplifier: Kicker ZX750.1 or KX600.1

I'm still debating which amp I should go with for this subwoofer.

It'll go in a sealed enclosure packed w/ polyfil.

What do you guys think?

i say ZX750.1 because it matches your RMS perfectly.

A little headroom is always better.

Do you have the dual 2 or dual 4 ohm model?? That will make a diffrerence in what you can do with the amp.

If you have a dual 2ohm, those kicker amps aren't going to be able to push to their full potential because their highest RMS rating is at 2ohm mono. With a dual 2ohm sub, you can only get 1ohm or 4 ohm mono.

This is the specs on the amp Remote control **** with 25 ft. cable
KickerEQ boost up to 18db
20hz - 200khz frequency response
250mv - 10v input sensitivity
>95db or better signal to noise ratio
Selectable low pass crossover
Subsonic filter @ 25 hz 12 db per octave
24 DB per octave 50 – 200hz adjustable crossover
375 Watts x 1 RMS 4 ohms CEA rating
750 Watts RMS @ 2 ohms
Soft start circuit
Protection circuit
Dimentions: 14 11/16"L x 2.1/8"H x 9 -5/8 "W

and this is the specs of the sub i got
Dual 2 ohm voice coils
1500 watts max power handling
750 Watts RMS power handling
87.1 DB sensitivity

Are you telling me the amp wont be delivering 750w to the sub?

no the amp wont give you the full 750 because your sub can only be wired in either 1ohm (which the amp cant handle) or 4ohm (which would only give you about half of the 750w). the zx750.1 can only deliver 750w if the sub is wired @ 2ohms.

that's correct.... since you have a DUAL 2ohm voice coil sub, you'll only be able to wire that to a 1ohm mono load, or a 4ohm mono load...

That amp you have listed there will do 375x1@4ohm OR 750x1 @ 2ohm... Since the amp isn't 1ohm stable, you'd have to wire the sub in 4ohm mono which would only supply the sub with 375 watts...

What you need is an amp that will either do:
750x1@4ohm mono OR
750x1@1ohm mono

I see, thanks for clearing that up, now I have to find another amp

I believe there are some kicker amps that will do 750x1@1ohm...

generally speaking, a class-d amp has a better chance of being 1ohm mono stable and a class a/b amp will more than likely be 4ohm mono stable.

why not the zx1500.1. would give you about 750w @ 4ohms. either that, or get another of the same sub.

I have two Kicker L7 dual 2ohm subs rated at 600w rms each. I power them with a ZX750.1. They sound great even though they are technically not rated perfect for each other. i dont listen loud, keep the gain DOWN, and enjoy it for what it is...

Thanks again.

I still have another option for the sub, they sell it @ 4ohms too, but then I'd need an amp that is 8ohms stable right?

What amp do you recommend I use for CVX 12" dual 2ohm sub then?

no, you wire the 4ohms in parallel to create a 2ohm load. if you get a dual 4ohm, then the zx750.1 would be perfect...

^^ indeed.... get the dual 4ohm, wire it in parallel for a 2ohm mono load...

If you wire a dual 4ohm sub in series, it'll create an 8ohm load.... it's all in how you wire it....

OK, thanks. I'll get the 4ohm version of the CVX 12"

Thanks for the input

I have one more question, I plan to keep the stock headunit on my 07 tC and just buy the amp harness kit for the stock stereo to add an amp, my question is, can i configure the intensity of the sub with the amp instead of using the headunit?

reason I ask is because the prior car I had, held a Pioneer HU that had a setting that would intesify the amount of bass the sub is producing. and I'm not talking about the GAINs on the amp,

thanks

the remote bass control will help you there... Don't have the remote hooked up when you're trying to set the gain though...
