I believe what FOZZ is trying to say is that to satisfy your curiosity you can find the directions in your owners manual...which is probably in the car that you want to reset the gauge sweep for.

Since I'm assuming you had to use that page of the manual as emergency roadside toilet paper, I have provided the information here.

Leave key in ON position
Push ODO button to change to A/B trip miles
Now push and hold ODO
turn the key to off, then turn the key to ON position all while still holding down ODO
A couple of seconds later you'll see S-on...let go of the button
Turn off the car and turn it back on...it should sweep

Mine came with the sweep turned off. I didn't know it even could do that until this thread. Saw that S-on thing one time when I was resetting the oil life light but didn't think much if it. Guess you learn something every day.

That's exactly what happened to me one day a few years back; the two procedures are quite similar.

While we're at it, you can turn off your seatbelt beep by doing the following:

Push ODO button to change to the odometer reading.
Turn key to off.
Turn key to the ON position, but press and hold the ODO button AFTER the screen lights up (you have about 2 seconds).
Hold ODO button for 12 seconds.
Buckle the driver seatbelt.
You will see a "B-ON" screen pop up.
Release the ODO button, and hit it one more time to toggle it to "B-OFF."

Congratulations, your car doesn't beep at you when there's something heavy on the passenger seat anymore!
