I want to know if the NAVIGATION software says the name of the actual street or highway or does it just say "turn right/left" instead of saying "turn right on main street" or "take highway one south"

it says the actual street, or exit. Sometimes it will not give a street name, but most times it does. If it doesnt, it says it on the screen.

Where is a good place to order at a great price??? I saw that Crutchfield is selling it for 899 which included a backup camera and all the wiring harnesses needed, but without the PAC controller. Is this a good price?

To anyone that wants to do the bypass for dvd play I ordered the bypass wire from this guy ....http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-AVIC-D3-...QQcmdZViewItem

It saves you the hassle of pulling out the mute wire since he provides the wire and instructions on where to ground everything. it really saved me some headaches when i installed my D3.

from everyone that i have heard that has had the D3, that it is cool, but it has its up and downs. IMHO i think the D2 is a much better HU. as for a Stealth GPS antenna placement, i have mine underneath the Sunroof on the side near middle of the roof, kinda hard to explain where to run the wire, but there is a little area under the front where you can run the wire into the vehicle. No problems whatsoever with reception even with the sunroof closed, even have my XM on the other side, same great reception as the GPS

I agree that the D2 is MUCH metter than the D3. And I speak from experience have a D2 in my wifes car and a D3 in mine.

For stealth, the sunroof sounds like a good spot, but its pretty easy to use the a pillar.

Do you have any pictures of the wiring? Also, how do you connect the stock speakers, they arent RCA are they?

I just installed my D3 2 weeks ago... it was really easy. I googled the mod you do to the wiring harness to bypass the e-brake and let you watch dvd's while driving... it was easy to do and parts cost a whole $1.50 at radio shack.

As far as redrilling holes or buying special adaptors so that the door closes over the D3..... don't waste your money.... if you remove the HVAC you can take a dremel to the inside of the door and make it clear the ****. You do not damage the outside of the door, there's another pannel on the inside and dead space between the 2 plastic pannels. If you trim it back with a dremel it takes 2 mins and costs you nothing. You cannot see the section you cut out after the D3 is installed because its on top of the HU when its open.

i put mine in yesterday and im happy with it. now i did not drill back any further as far as the mounting brackets go, i took the backing of the cover and sanded it down. the original mounting fits and it closes great! there was a black (grounding) cable that was suppost to hook up into the hand brake! i didnt do that lol i just grounded the wire and now i get a warning signal everytime i start the unit. the reason i did it is so that i can watch movies while driving!!! anyone else do that ?
