My super stealth DUAL 10" sub box
Just would like to show off what im in the process of doing. I saw the other threads where people are building a box to hold a single ten under the rear cargo cover, and they where building them out of wood. The wood is a good thing to use, but if you want to conserve space, and make the most of what you have, fiberglass is the way to go.
So that what I did, I pulled ou that foam thing, and used it as my mold. I found out that the space in there is just under 1 cubic foot, .98 cubic feet to be exact. Thats plenty of airspace for two ED SQ10's.
Here are a few pics of my progress, its obviously not finished, I only have one layer of glass on it, so its still flimsy. Don't mind the blue tape, I will get to it when I get the other layer of glass on. Sorry for the crappy camera phone pics, too.
enjoy

How did you handle the bonding of the glass with the MDF? The two do not mix well long-term normally.
Are you going to space the factory trunk liner off the face of the enclosure or does the driver you're using not move very far?

JLTD,
Here's a video of the sub in the box, it's a slim driver designed for small spaces. Hit a 130.1 in the tC on ~ 400W

Countless numbers of people use MDF/glass combination in custom enclosures... that's how many shops do it even...
As for the "movement" issues, it's got 9.3mm of xmax (pretty dang good for a slimline sub) --- look at this vid for reference of movement:

The best reason I can think of to absolutely have a divider is if you wanted to hook up only one sub.

I HATE FIBERGLASS!
I am so itchy right now it isn't even funny. even after a shower. I was just cutting the mat, and glassing it in, I wasn't even sanding yet.
The box is comming along pretty well, I have a couple of layers of glass on it, and am only going to put one more on. After that I will sand it down, and make it somewhat decent looking.
The MDF soaks up the resin like its nobodys business, i have never heard of any problems with mixing fiberglass and MDF, thats how I built all my past box's.
I just want the subs to get here so I can drop them.

LOL... Been there, need the full-body Tyvek painting suit from Home Depot. Works well for fiberglass and sandblasting. ;) Golden - I take it you were on Pennock's? Nice work! I'll be doing similar with the right side trunk wall -removing the carpet wall and sinking the sub as far in as I can, likely on both sides eventually. Using A/D/S/ 10's though since my other speakers and amps are A/D/S/.
