Default noise with eD sub box

hi, quick question.
i just installed my eD box and sq10 and when i went to listen to it i noticed that my spare tire cover vibrates, A LOT. for now i have that side folded back but what can i do about it? i thought you could use the cover without problems but its bad and i'll have to do something about it. i might end up making a custom floor or just cutting that section off but i'm just curious as to what some of you have done.
thank you.

I have the same box but no vibration issues. I'd get some thin strips of foam to sit in between the box and the tire cover. Maybe some double-stick tape would do the trick. See if it helps before you put the tape on permanently... hope this helps

I suggest you go ahead and modify the cover. Think about it...the cover is solid and the sub is trying to move air, which it can't pump through a solid cover. I don't know why more don't modify the cover, except to keep the stock look, but it decreases the sub's output and SQ. Maybe that's why some complain about it being kinda weak.

most people have had to modify the floor, mine drove me nuts so I sold it to a person looking to make a false floor anyway,I tried everything from fuzzy dice to rolled up towels and it still made rattle noises.....

if you're selling the enclosure, pm me! =)

I think when i eventually get it, I might just remove the cover and build something else to work better with the sub

i wonder if i don't hear it rattling because i have the cargo mat on top too? i think i will experiment with the sub covered and uncovered and listen for a difference. I've only used it with the cover & cargo mat on top

I've removed the mat and had a hole cut on the floor board for the sub. To cover the hole, I bought a grill from Home Depot and screw it onto the box.

Pics integgi? Sounds like a good solution. And Breimann, you would still be hitting the the mat even with the cargo just from the excursion on the sub if the floor board is laid down flat on the box.

To stealth it a bit more you could, wrap it in new back-less box carpet after cutting

Thanks...the edges are sharp though. I've gotten cut a couple of times when removing the donut. The best part of having the grill is that I don't have to worry about things in the trunk falling on top of the sub.

looks like the grille can impeed the excursion of the sub which will destroy it,does it have enough room on hard bass to move all the way,I know mine moved up even to the box top and a little more....may want to put a spacer to lift the grate up 1/4",rubber hose cut to length works great .
