Default Old Bazooka Sub in New tC? [ANSWERED PAGE 2!]

I searched but couldn't find anything, but I was wondering if I could hook up the 10" tC enclosed bazooka sub to my 09 tC? Can I still run the 5" or would the new one plug into that? I have the 08/09 stock radio and everything.

Doesnt your car come stock with a subwoofer and last i checked 08-up all had the same stock subwoofer. I dont even see a bazooka sub listed for and 10 model on trdsparks. Are you sure its not the 05-up sub option?

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. I have the 6.5" hidden sub but I want to put the 10" Bazooka option from the older tC's. Just wondering if it would hook right up, if I had to disconnect the 6.5" for it to work, or if it wouldn't work at all.

Ok. Well i would think it would just hook right up since the old ones ran of the stock head unit. Obviously you would disconnect the 6.5" sub for the 10". But I am not sure if its just a strait swap. Why dont you wanna go aftermarket?

Well I don't want anything extreme I just want a clean oomfh to the music and I also like the way it mounts on the side. I can't really afford the custom fit enclosures and don't want to hook up an amp either. I figure for 150 the bazooka 10 is perfect but I don't want to buy it and have it not work in my car.

So is the 6.5" sub connected the same way the bazooka would wire-wise?

Well I did find this thread: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...ght=bazooka+08

Gives me hope! I think it would be nice to have the factory 6 and the stealthy 10.

Bump for anyone else who might know about the old bazooka option? Would the plug work with the newer tC?

It works. I have this setup in my RS 5.0. But you need to disconnect the smaller sub to use it. Otherwise it's too much for the system to handle 2 subs. I had the wiring of the old sub soldered onto the wiring of the new stereo. Need to look up wire colors of old sub and new stock stereo to get the sounds. to play. And yes you do get better bass with the bazooka.

Thanks for the reply, so I can't just disconnect old sub and connect the bazooka harness and run that wire? I HAVE to solder?

Wire coloring is different so you need to check the wiring for the newer stereo and check the corresponding colors to the sub. TRD sparks has the wiring diagram to the bazooka but you need to look up the head unit's wiring.

I'm talking about the long wire harness that comes with the bazooka that reaches the front to plug into the radio (The piggyback harness), The connectors are the same, wouldn't it just plug in (the piggyback thing)?

I don't mind cutting and soldering, but I would rather just unplug the 6" and run the new harness wire and plug it in if that would work.

Alright well I went ahead and ordered the bazooka 10"! I noticed the harness that comes with the 10" will fit in the back of the new radios because they have the same connections, so I'm going to hook that up before running it to see if it works, if that doesnt work all I have to do is splice the bazooka 10" into the rear 6".

I'm thinking the harness is going to work though, I'm actually positive it will. I'll keep everyone posted on this.

I used the same guy, subs been working great all through summer. Of course mine is an '05 but I would guess Toyota has the same pigtail from the Head Unit. Worst come to worst you'd solder on the "new" connector. Might be as easy as running the new wire to the HU though. I did mine alone in 3 hrs, taking my time and with a thirsty appetite for Shiner. Simple as sin.

Well I got the new sub in today! Looks great, matches the interior really well. Love how it looks clean and simple.

Unfortunately I can't begin to install it today because I have a class in a bit and when I get home it's bed time for a morning class.

Butttt after that morning class, I'm going to begin the install. I'll keep everyone posted, but from looking at the harness everything looks like it will plug right up.

One question I had is which remote wire do I plug in?
