Operation Interior Makeover (Suede and Paint)
Operation Interior Makeover has begun. While my car sits and waits for the engine, I decided to start on the suede that I have had for 5 months. I will be sueding all the sliver/tan trim. I'll also be painting any of the plastic parts black like the oh **** handles and dome light trim.
I need ideas for the sunshades. I'm going to paint the handles black but not sure what to do with the vinyl material. Should/can I paint it, suede it, or replace it with some other material?
9-3-07:
Removed all the sliver/tan parts from interior. Will be removing the door panels and back panels another day to do the fabric for that.

im not quite sure yet. Im thinking about leaving the "pleather" gray and seeing how it looks like that and go from there. I kinda like how i did my b pillars which are black suede witht the plastic piece for the seat belt being gray

you can paint your sunroof shades with dupli-colors' fabric & vinyl paint, available at your local auto zone or pep boys, you'll have to pull the shades all the way out and use a red or green 3m scuff pad on them, then just wipe them with some isopropyl alchohol and you should have no problems, just make sure you use as thin a coat as possible and dont put it on too thick, if its too thick when it rolls up around the drum it may want to crack, but one or two thin coats just enough to get good coverage and your in like Flynn...

So I went in the garage a couple of hours ago and decided to try out the suede on the part by the seatbelt. I pulled the old fabric off and put the contact cement on. This stuff seemed to dry up really fast or maybe I didn't use enough. Anyway, the big problem was the curve in it (almost like a half pipe or u) I couldn't get it to lay flat. Is there a secret I'm missing to doing this. I got ____ed and left it alone. I do have to say what did lay flat looked real good.

etsnet, I recommend using another person. When I wrapped my a pillars it was a pain to get it around that curve. I had my wife help me so she could hold the pillar while I stretched the fabric and it made it a lot easier.
