Default Painting Interior Pillars

So, Long story short some _______ at my job sat in my car the other day and burned a nice hole in the fabric on my A pillar. I want to pull them out and paint them. I have considered taking them to a fabric shop and having them wrapped with black sued, but for nowI will just paint them.. {IRS payment is due} ssoooooo anyway.. to the question.

I was told the A pillars just pop off... is that correct??

and if so is it the same for the B and C pillars as well.???

Please let a man know as I will be making painting the entire interior of my car a weekend project this weekened......

...not really a solution to your problem but i have to ask...

..whats the long story and how did he manage to burn a hole in you're A pillar? o.O

Also - check the tech section..there is a DIY on gutting the tC and I'm sure they have something on removing the pillars

well do you have side airbags in the 07.......if not then the front pillars jsut pull right off,the mid pillars you can take off much easier by taking out rear seats, and pullin gout the rear panels so you can get to the screws to get it out much easier, then the back panels pull right out too once the rear panels are out,if you leave the rear panels in and seats in it is a pain inthe butt to get them out,and takes longer to get them out than if you just took out seat and panels.

Now if you have air bags, whole differant issue, gotta disconnect battery, wait 5 minutes, then take out the panels same way but you have to contend withthe airbag clips, they are a pain to get loose.

Cool, No airbags so safe there. I will look into it this weekend. As for the DIY on the interior I didnt see anything on the pillars.. I used that one to gut the rear hatch section. Thanks for the heads up though.

yeah no bags you got it easy, but it is mus=ch easier to puell rear seats and pull out the rear side panels to get everything out without fighting the panel that is in front of everything.

Cool, I will pull them and paint.. I was thinking a 400 grit and a 1000 grit follow up. I already have the waterfall matte blacked.. so I am going to do the A, B, and C pillars the same way. and probably re do the water fall as well. It looks good, but I want them all to match up well.

As for the back, yeah, I already have the entire back pulled out. Seats, panels, etc. Now I do have the mid panels in place still... do those need to come out as well for the B pillars?? or can I just lift them up slightly.??

Ok, I got the A pillars off no issue.. the B pillars though. are those also just pull off?? or do I need to remove the mid panel thats beneath them as well??? and how do I go about getting the seat belt out of the B pillar slit??

IIRC, the B pillars have a bolt or two and the panel below needs to be loosened or removed.

To get B out you have to pull the mid panel out, undo the two screws hold in each piece at bottom, undo the seat belt from the floor ,tilt B up towards ceiling and it will mostly come unhooked from its mounting.

SSOOOO Im going to thread jack my own thread... bet you have never seen that before

Anyway, I want to paint the radio controls on the steering wheel and I am not sure how to get them off. I have seen pics of them being painted by others and it looks like they have screw holes for mounting in them, can anyone point me in the direction of a DIY walk through or something else that will show the set up.... etc etc etc..

Thanks....

Ha..........you need to come to the PNW forum.........we do nothing but threadjack our own threads and others........we are experts at it.........lol.

but to answer the question,

unhook battery and wait 5 minutes.
look at the sides of the steering wheel and you will see a torx screw on each side, undo each one and the steering wheel cover comes right off......there are two airbag clips that need unhooked.
then it seems there is a screw or two or a clip that hold in the two grey pieces, been a long time since I had the cover off so I do not remember, but they come out fairly easy,

ok so back on topic........lol
