Pioneer AVIC-D2 Questions

Pioneer AVIC-D2 Questions
Last night I went out and traded an iPhone that I had purchased for $260 for a fully working AVIC-D2. He hooked it up on his test bench and let me play with it. Screen is great, motorized faceplate moves and tilts...didn't hook up the GPS antenna (was indoors) but I am 99% sure this thing is going to work flawlessly.
I even got a 480w amp with it and a free remote.
I have searched for and read several threads:
1) https://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-tc-1g-ice-interior-1647/avic-d1-xm-ps2-pac-swi-ps-installed-pics-updated-42728/
2) https://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-tc-1g-ice-interior-1647/avic-d2-install-help-wiring-question-68871/
3) https://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-tc-1g-ice-interior-1647/vss-wire-location-05-tc-help-76477/
And the closest step-by-step was this one:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-tc-1g-ice-interior-1647/avic-d3-installed-93895/
But it was a D3.
Is there a thread somewhere (with pictures) that I am missing on a how-to for a D2? Is the install for a D3 basically identical for a D2?
Also, I haven't found the answer anywhere, but does the D2 have an iPod interface on it? I know the D3 does and you can control it when your HU, but I can't even find the cord that goes from my iTouch 32gb (1st gen) to the back of the unit.
The closest I could find was this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/FOR-PIONEER-CD-I...item3a57d07be7
I am most likely going to document and take photos of EVERYTHING and then make a tech article for SL, but in the mean time...help?

That is the cable I have on my D3 that lets me control my iphone from my head unit. I would imagine that the install procedures are the same as the D3. The only thing that is really vehicle specific is the speed sensor wire. Which if you have a TC it is the orange/silver wire on the HVAC plug. http://www.yoursciontc.com/forums/in...howtopic=18450 theres a link. And you may also need to go to the pioneer site or ebay and buy the new update disks for the GPS. I hope this helps out.

i don't believe the D2 came with an iPod interface and you may have to buy it separately.
other than that.. the install is pretty much the same exact procedure. get wiring harness, match wires, and plug the unit in. route wires/cables as necessary.

my friend had the d2 and he added the ipod interface.. you have to find the interface from pioneer that has the silver box.. it went for about fifty dollars.. the only downfall is it is soo slow.. especially with a bigger ipod because it has to load all of the artist and all before you can scroll.. you cant use the newer ipod interface that is just the cable (i tried)
