pioneer navigation avic d3 or avic f90?
sorry if this has been posted already but i couldnt find a post.
if you guys had to choose between the pioneer navigation avic d3 or the avic f90/900 which would you choose (assuming they were the same price)? im currently trying to decide which one would be a better buy right now since most forums i have read have been about 50/50.

I own a D3 can't say anything about the new units but I know my D3 was a biscuit before I could get it working 100%....if that. The GPS antenna on the D3 is REAL picky about where it wants to be. Trying a couple of different positions I found out that it really wants to be outside to get it working right. You have to play around with it until you find a spot inside the car that works for you. Until I moved the antenna I had very bad experiences with my D3.(putting me in the middle of a lake....etc.) The navigation on the unit isn't bat at all it's really well set up and layed out but the unit is starting to show it's age. The only up side I can see at first glace is that the screen on the D3 is a bit bigger.
hope this helps.

If your gonna get a D3 you most likely wont find it new. I bought mine used and it does everything I want it to do I love it! I just hate the antenna once you get it working don't move it just leave it alone lol. From what I hear the new units are pretty good.

With D3's don't you have to use a CD/DVD for navigation, and when you want to switch to an Audio CD you have to eject the navi CD/DVD?
I have the F700BT (bottom of the new Avics) and I would have to say that getting the F900BT is just as good as the 90BT. I forget the real difference between the two actually. I'm happy with my new Avic, starting up is still a bit laggy but I don't mind since the music comes on before I leave my driveway anyways

D3 is a great unit for those with an iPod (since you'll never use your CD player).
The F700/900/90BT solved that by putting the nav data on flash memory. Now you can use the cd drive all you want while using the nav.
Both are good units though. They've worked out most of the complaints regarding the F-series, so you should be ok. If you find a D3 at a killer deal, then jump on it.

I had a D1 before and now an F900. I definetly like the fact that the nav is on the flash drive. Also the fact that the F series can be easily upgraded if there is a problem found with the units software. When my car got broke into I had the option of either getting the D3 for free or paying the insurance company $80 for an upgrade to the F900. so I figured it was a good deal.
