the only thing you have to do (if you run into this) is in the bracket that you use, you make a new hole on each side of the bracket farther towards the front of the bracket so that it sits farther back.

Alright cool thanks! Kind of off topic but was wondering if anyone knew a site i could go for inexpensive reliable double din in dashes?

Does anyone have problems with overheated amps in the trunk area, specifically the right side of the of the spare tire in the foam section? I was planning on putting an amp in there to have a clean look and to save space but worried about overheating issues.

i'm guessing you will hav ethe amp covered by the hatch 'floor'/panel? if so you probably will depending on how much you're trying to push and how long its running because it needs air to ventilate through it to keep it cool.
#1393
That's correct. If anything I was thinking about cutting some small slits on the cover along the edge of where my sub box will be. Then put some sort of mesh underneath it.

New for 2013. Along the same lines as my last install, I'm going for loud, but with SQ in mind. After about a month of weekends, I finally got everything installed and dialed in. I also ordered some more RAAMAT so I can deaden the rear hatch. Luckily everything is loud enough to drown out any rattling, but I want to keep as much sound inside as possible. Even though it took forever, I also used tamper-proof hex bolts for the subs and amps, so if someone is stupid enough to try and lift any of my stuff, they'll be in one place long enough for target practice.

Hey everyone, noobie checking in!
I'm seeing a lot of great pics of sub enclosures, but not much in the way of main component speakers. Excluding the guys who are building everything from scratch, what are people doing for speaker spacers/adapters? I've used those cheap ABS plastic ones on my Infiniti and wasn't very impressed, but I'm not sure what's available for your cars (1st gen tC specifically). Are shallow depth front speakers a common necessity with these cars?
Thanks!

I cut a 1 inch board for an adapter.

What are the best options to get for replacing the speakers and deck for a 2005 TC?
I have finally blown out one of my front speakers and have had to eject cd's with tweezers for a couple of years since the eject function doesn't work correctly. It is time for an upgrade.
I would like to upgrade my sound quality, but I wasn't planning on getting an amp or subs since I throw bikes and fill my car up to the brim with camping gear on occasion.
Just seeing what is recommended if anyone has any input. I have never done any upgraded sound system work, but I still miss my old Infinity Spatial Imaging Sound system in my Chrylser LHS.
I was considering the Polk DB6501, but was not sure what all is needed to switch my speakers out. Do I need new tweeters, or will a better speaker take care of that?
Also, I was planning on keeping the door for the deck intact also.
I may check out Car Toys, but no one was around at Best Buy to answer any questions when I stopped by.

as for the speakers, speaker upgrades will do unless your doing a real build... Polk are fine for just every day use....
The deck on the other hand you can go either single din or double din. single din you'll just need to buy a buddy to fill the bottom portion. As far as the double din, some might not fit unless with modification. I had 2 eclipse double dins but it required me to grind down the rear of the door....
good luck...
and if you want subs, there are always stealth subs or small 8-10" subs and hide the amp next to your spare underneath or under your passenger seat.
