Default Python 990 vs. Viper 5900

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons if there are any. I understand Viper makes Python but theres got to be some differance. I really need a good alarm for my car Since I will be working in a 7story building in Downtown San Diego and im going to be parking my car at a very popular tourist attraction park (Balboa Park).
Any help is appreciated!

Why not google both and compare specs?

they're both the same, except color and name. DEI owns both and as well as many other brands. http://www.directed.com/Products/Security/Default.aspx

[col:87792c8e4d]2-Way Security System / Remote Start System with Responder SST Technology[row:87792c8e4d]This Responder SST System from Viper is simply the most advanced 2-way Security and Remote Start system in the world! The interactive display on your Responder remote confirms all commands – virtually instantly – with easy to understand icons and text. It alerts users to security system triggers by beeping or vibrating when out of audible range of the siren. And of course this system will also start your vehicle with the push of a button, and you will get confirmation back that it started from up to one mile away. [col:87792c8e4d]The ultimate 2-way security and remote start systems, with SST, one mile* range! Responder SST systems employ Spread Spectrum Technology, digital frequency hopping and multiple frequency transmission to assure that, if a frequency is blocked, the signal still goes through. ResponderSST also uses dual error correction systems to combat signal data corruption and minimize signal interference. The result is rock solid range of up to one full mile*!

Yeah its just the differance in price.....These 2 and clifford are all like 100 apart and I want to know why. Just lik Weapon said it seems like the only differance is the color after looking at the specs

The python 990 is not color....I have it that must be a typo. The python 1090 is color.

From what I am reading about the 5900 it is the exact same as the 990. They are made by the same company and are the exact same product with just a different badge on it.

oh ok...I read the info on Python's page too and it makes it sound like it is a color LCD and it sounded like others were thinking the same. Just trying to clear that up.

I'd get the python based solely on the fact that it has a gauge on the remote that indicates how hard it was hit, or the signal strength... from what it looks like anyway...

No... you cannot... they will not program..

some of the really old stuff you can mix and match... new stuff... uh uh

these two pieces are the exact same... everything but the fabs are different... if you were to take the alarm and r/s brains and put them side by side... they look identical...

as for pricing... the viper is usually a little more just because its a viper but oh well...

as for autopage being the best... honestly... slowly its becoming so... they seem to have the longest actual range out there... and have some of the coolest features... i put all three of these brand alarms/remote starts in on a regular basis... along with others... and its getting crazy some of the stuff these companies are coming out with

the meter simply tells u how sensitive YOU have set your vibration sensor. it does not tell you how hard the car was hit. there are two levels of warnings for your car (which has nothing to do with showing it on the meter)....1) warning and 2) alarm. warning is jsut the chirp for light bumps and full blown alarm is when the alarm is tripped.

i have the viper alarm and after doing lots of research previously, they are the same. get whatever you can get installed for the cheapest.

to the orginal poster, a word of warning.....these alarms with 1 mile range and SST technology, they drain the remote battery like no other. be prepared to swap batteries every 2 weeks or so.
