Default remote starter & car alarm... for the Tc

hey whats up?

i havent posted in a while since i have been busy with work but i just went to best buy to purchase a new car alarm with remote start.

I got for $500 installed... [which includes the transponder key bypass module]

Viper 771XVR - Viper 771XV LED 2 -way security
[VIPER CAR ALARM 2 - WAY L.E.D. PAGING REMOTE]

its not the fancy viper alarm with the actual lcd screen that shows you what part of your car is being tampered with.. because for another $100 for that option.. i dont need it. i got the next step down which does everything except come with that lcd screen.

anyone have this kind of remote starter & alarm on their car? and if so.. how do u like it? any other things that i should be aware of?

oh i know i have to give them the valet key to place in the transponder key module box

Hey, I also have a Viper but it's the 791XV model. Here, visit my post about car alarms, info and site about my 791XV model is on the last post

I like it so far, everything works fine. The autostart option is FABULOUS for cold days...I always leave my heat and music blasting on high before I turn off my car so that when I autostart my TC, I am welcomed to a toasty and loud car.

About that "fancy LCD screen" you were talking about, I find that thing very useful - you'll always know if someone's going to **** with your car and what specific part is being hit, etc. mine is supposed to cost 599.99 but I searched the web like my friend did, and got mine for 200 flat, S&H included. Installed by a friend for 200 also. Soo altogether, 400. Only thing I would complain about is that after a certain distance, you can't autostart the car or know what's happening to it...and the battery life sucks! Seems like I have to replace an AAA battery every month. Bleh.

Good luck with your alarm!

I have one similar its not the viper but it does the same thing, mine was 500 installed at the dealer with the lcd screen remote. I think its made by audiovox. Battery life on mine is great i've replaced the battery once since I got my car in jan. As for distance, I can get mine to do everything from a good deal away, never actually measured how far but I know I can walk for a few minutes away from the car and still function no problem. My biggest pet peeve is if my alarm does go off, my remote decides to play retard and not wanna turn it off. So i'm stuck looking like an idiot trying to shut it up.

Got the Clifford Matrix 3.5. Same things as the Viper 791VX, but a with a faux carbon fiber skin on the remote.

Love the remote start function. But like azncaprica said, the remote drains batteries like crazy.

Spent $400 total. Recommend buying the alarm and required bypass module from ebay or an shop willing to sell it and having someone install it.
