Default remove the grocery hooks

can someone give me some tips on removing the grocery hooks? According to the gutting guide, I need to turn them 90 degrees clockwise and pull it out, but no matter how hard I pull, the hooks wont come out. how hard should I be pulling? Is it even necessary to remove the grocery hooks to remove this panel? my fingers are hurting like crazy trying to get these pieces out...

You need a screwdriver to push in one of the tabs. (You'll know which one it is because it moves rather freely once you push it in.) After turning 90 degrees, push in the tab with the screwdriver and it should 'unlock' itself from the panel.

ahh i just tried it, and I swear its not coming out. Its all rotated 90degrees clockwise, and I push the pin and attempt to pull it out at the same time (even tried with pliers) and no matter how hard I pull it won't come out.

if theres anyone in the los angeles area that can help out, please PM me...this is so sad...

Just curious - why do you want to remove the hooks?

im putting edead on my car right now, already finished the driverside door and the trunk. I want to the rear wheel wells which are right behind that panel. apparently the grocery hooks hold this panel in... i don't understand why but its in mandos' gutting guide.

Depending on which end the tab (that you push in) is located;

Tab on top---turn clockwise.
Tab on bottom---turn counter clockwise.

The hole where it 'unlocks' from the panel should be at 9'o clock on the passenger side and 3'o clock on the driver side. (I'm pretty sure about this.)

Side note; usually you want to remove these to replace the stock speakers, redo the middle part of the panels with suede/vinyl, install an amp, etc. Pretty much whatever you can think of to use in a limited space.

Edit; they are also held in with those white clips that are throughout the car. :D

Not to revive an old thread...... BUT....

A question about these hooks:

I know how to take them out no problem, but I'm having difficult installing them! As a result the plastic is starting to get chewed up. I'm going to attempt installing them again over the weekend so my question may be a moot point. Is there a technique or a way they need to be lined up prior to installing?

The annoying thing is, I did all of this in the spring and put them BACK in no problem.

Yea they can be annoying to put back in. Just keep messing with them, mine got kind of chewed up too but they still work.
