Replacing led in 08 door sills

$300? What a rip. You can get them at trdsparks.com for way cheaper.
They also say MSRP is $195 not $299. What gives?

odd... everytime i've seen them in person... it looks more to be EL than LEDs.... yet... the screen shot of the site says LEDs....
of course... they do have a history of making mistakes before...
the light just looks way more like EL... (at which point would be a big PITA to replace.)

well i might be wrong but an el means that the whole plexi is the light source not a little led shining on it to make it illuminated i have looked at it and it is a little serfuce moundted i believe led that illuminates the plexi now i could be wrong about how a el works so i will get some pic in a few days thax

I actually installed this in my car last week, after buying it from TRDSparks.com ($165 plus shipping). Is it necessary? Not even a little bit. Does it serve some sort of purpose? Not really. But, I think it looks cool, and it was fun to install, so I think it was worth it.
I'd post up some pics if anyone was interested, but the one provided by TRD pretty much sums it up.
Just in case anyone's interested, it's installed to the actual door sill metal via an adhesive backing on the back of the thing. I thought it would snap in, or something, like the door sill plastic piece that you're replacing, but it actually sticks to the vehicle. Fine and dandy, and all, as long as the adhesive lasts, and I never have to replace the light inside.
Have a great weekend!

hmm.. looking at it again.. it does seem thick enough to mount small surface mount leds in there... and it'll have to be a couple of them...
if you open them up and post pictures.. i can identify the sizes then...
but it looks to be pretty sealed shut for the most part... and i don't have a spare that i can actually play around with to take apart.
