I too very much want to change color from blue to amber to match everything else...

fyi, i've managed to open one up.

they're just 2 side-emitting surface mount leds pointed inwards.

hmm... i guess the only thing is finding the replacement leds for them... though using a few other sized ones may work.... just probably not as well. (depends there)
