Replacing stock sub?

Replacing stock sub?
Hey yall, ive got a 2008 tC which came with the stock like 5 or 6 inch sub in the trunk. My brothers got two 10 inch subs in a box at our house. My question is.. would it be possible to take the 10inch subs and use the wireing from the stock sub and swich them? So I wouldnt have to add any wires. I know I would want to get an amp but I wasnt sure if the stock sub uses the same wires and such as the aftermarket ones would. Any advice or if anyone has done something close to this let me know! I know people splice the rear speaker wires but i was wonderin if all the wiring for the stock sub would be the same as for the aftermarket ones.

Even if you could manage to mount the 10" in the housing for the 6" stocker, it would sound like poo. The amplifier for the stock sub is very weak, somewhere in the range of 75W. Not to mention, the small enclosure, would offer very little as far as airspace for the sub. Now HERE is a more viable option for you. http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...roducts_id=465
Or you can get an unloaded model and use your own shallow mount sub, but the SQ10 is quite good and enough for that extra bump you need.

Not certain what you're asking, but might be able to help.
You can put in a 10" sub in it's own enclosure, and power it with the stock sub's amp until you get a 'real' amp for the 10. Simply remove the stock sub from it's enclosure, disconnect it, then extend the wires so they can reach your 10" sub box. It'll get you by until you get a more powerful amp, but even using the stock amp, it'll have a LOT more output than the 6" sub. EDIT: Make sure the 10" is 4 Ohm!
You can't replace the 6" sub with a 10" and use the stock enclosure, it won't sound good even if you can get the 10 to fit. So if that's what you were asking, forget it.

^^do what he says.
thats what i did in my 06 until i got an amp.
And its more of the head unit itself that sucks and not just the sub assembly. To me it sounds like it cuts off a lot of the lows. i have an amp hooked up to my stock HU and it still sounds like poop.

I know what you mean... Use the stock wiring for the new amp and sub... I'm trying to do the same thing. I've figured out a few wires, but not all of them... I've got another topic open trying to find the rest of the wires...
