Scion Key Duplication
Hey guys i have a scion Tc 2005, and i went to get the grey electronic key duplicated, and the lady that helped me asked if this key was ok to go through a regular key duplicator, or if it will harm/ruin it.
Anybody know?
and if so, how can i get an extra key?????

it will, but if you're duplicating it with a key at that store, it will only lock or unlock ur car. it won't start ur car.
if you want another grey key, you'll have to go get it at Toyota for like $90. Then they charge for labor to program the key to your car in order to start the car.

The transponder will HAVE to be programmed by someone with the equipment(this will allow the vehicle to start). The remote portion of the key fob can be programmed by you or anyone with proper instructions by a sequence of turning the car on/off and closing/opening the driver's door and/or messing with the seat belt.
I work as a mobile lock/keysmith and I charge $150 to give you a new exact replica of the original Scion remote entry chip key. This includes cost of the key, milling, and programming the transponder/remote. For JUST a new chip key(no remote function) I charge $60.
Just trying to give you an idea of what to expect. Prices vary a lot in this business though.
