Default Seat upholstery question

I got a price estimate of about $5k to do front and rear seats in geniune elephant leather.

Can someone who has experience in interior work tell me if thats reasonable.

I've had several sets of boots made from elephant leather, and I understand completely that it's one of the most expensive skins out there, but after taking that into consideration as well as the labor, is $5k a good or bad price?

Notice: dont mean to offend anyone but before anyone says anything, i'm set on getting genuine elephant leather, so thanks but no thanks to any suggestions of any alternatives. Again im not trying to be an A-hole by saying that, i just dont want the thread to get flooded by people saying "you should get suede/croc/ostrich/faux elephant/etc."

Thanks in advance.

To be honest, why would you want to spend that kind of money on the interior of a $17k car?

I like elephant leather bro lol. I guess it's just a matter of taste, but i understand where you're coming from.

Like for example I don't understand why some tc owners want to turbo a car that was clearly not designed for speed. The way I see it, it doesn't matter how much money I throw at my car it's never going to be a race-worthy car without making it illegal to drive on the street. But I can on the other hand use my money to add my own personal style to it. To each his own I guess lol.

This is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. On resale you'll get -3000 percent return on that investment.

You should get some tiger skin, might be more since they are endangered but hey whats the harm of killing off one more so you can sit on them.

Already considered that but the hair would eventually get on the dash.

See i can do sarcasm too.

Now here's the part without sarcasm: I already have 3 tiger skin chairs in my living room, and a rug. The PETA angle wont work on me pal, because i just dont give a ____.

If you already have Tiger skin chairs and a rug then you would know what you paid for them. You could correlate that information to the Elephant leather and figure out if $5k is a fair price. Labor is usually where most of the cost comes in since it is probably harder to work with leather versus textile material when making seat coverings. Not to mention the material cost. I say do it. Its a Scion its about making it your own not what people on the internet want it to be.
DO IT!

I really dont care if it wont work on you, because honestly i dont give a ____ what you do with your car. If you want to pay for 5k for something that is just another leather then go ahead.
