i sent the guy from monsterknobs an email about it not working on the stock shifter. he said that 2 other people have told him that and he no longer advertises it to be compatible with scions.
he said that one of the owners had an xB and liked the retro look of a ball on a stick. he wanted to see a pic of it on my tc once i installed my short shifter, he had a pic of the xb, hopefully i can swap pics and get the one of the xb

but anyways, i used to use a thick white sock and put that over the shifter when i parked it. it helped a little with keeping it a normal temp.

Its the regular speed star and I dont have any tint.

I don't think I wanna take the ball off when its hot and hold it in front of an ac vent, that doesn't make sense. How did you hold it anyways? Wasn't it scalding hot? Tell the truth, what did you use to hold it?

i have the obx speedstar **** too, it's the same size, but it leaves burn marks sometimes...
i got the monsterknob off of ebay, but you can get it from monsterknobs.com (note: it will look like a ball on a stick if you have the stock shifter, it looks ok, but it looks much better on a short shifter)
monsterknob with creative compacts short shifter
No thanks for hijacking my thread. I don't want a new shifter, I want some cover ideas.

I just hijacked this thread for a couple of paragraphs, i used to use a thick white sock and put that over the shifter when i parked it. it helped a little with keeping it a normal temp.
Anyways. Good ideas so far, but Im looking for something that looks better than a sock, glove or bag, more along the lines of a ball cover that fits tightly. Is there any more ideas out there?

Sorry I hate baseball and I think you would need something softer than the leather of the baseball. Plus the ball would be a lot bigger than the ball of my shifter. Thanks for the idea though.

That's not a monster... ****. This is a monster **** (no affiliation to the manufacturer, I made the kob/collar myself). Black acetal (delrin). Never gets past warm in the summer.

It's metal on the inside, 8oz of solid brass. But you go ahead and keep gripping onto your hand-brander. Some choose to eliminate the problem instead of putting band-aids on it.

I think it's more likely he'll be content to keep asking for ideas, after having been provided with about a dozen. Here's a notion for the OP. Figure it out.
