Default Sound Proofing the interior from road noise

Did anyone here use Dynamat or other types of sound damping materials?
Did it make a noticeable difference?

i used fatmat. Its similar to dynamat at 1/3 of the price. I bought 100 sq/f from ebay for about $100 dollars a number of years ago. Removed the entire interior and essentially covered everything. Floor, door skins, inside the quarter panels, etc.

Lowered road noise substantially. The doors and trunk close with a nice solid sounding thud, no more hollow sounding reverberations. If you have a sound system, makes it sound amazing as well. Best part, is for the entire 100 sq/f, it only added about 30 pounds to the car.

I used FatMat Rattle Trap, 100 Sq/F (43lbs.) installed from rear seats back, little overkill but 0 vibrations. Haven't replaced the rear seat and rear side panels and it's already quieter. Material is extremely sticky!! Smells a little at first but after 2 weeks it's gone. $150 shipped.

yes it helps a lot with road noise.100' is about the normal amount to do most the interior. Some areas to put it in for best results is inside door on the door skin, interior panel of the door, then door panels helps a lot to....on the back side of them.

Over the rear wheel wells is a must and the rear floor as well.....the side panels over the wheel wells in the rear are a must....

pretty much any place you can put it it will help.

You can also take out the front wheel well liners and place it toward the fire wall and on the back side of the wheel well panel....it helps a lot.

Fire wall under the dash and in the foot wells and on the back side of the center console also helps.

.080mil thickness is about the right amount for dramatic change in cabin noise.

there are a lot of brands and all work well, some better than others, some hold up better to heat and cold....there are liquid deadeners as well like edead v3 and lizard skin which also work very well.

hope that helps.

for my install in my old tC I used about 120feet and a half gallon of the liquid....cost was about $180.

Followup!! Beware WTF

Wouldn't recommend FatMat Rattletrap to anyone in a very hot area of the country!! My TC sat at the ATL airport for 10 days in direct sunlight, uncovered, and smelt like a tarpit. The smell has dissipated a bit, but wont be using it on the rest of the car come fall.

You can also undercoat the car, it is a little expensive but it helps with noise as well as rust.

I live in California where temps in the summer get to 95+ on the daily, 100+ quite often. Ive NEVER had that problem. You have to think of the conditions your car was in. Baking hot sun, windows closed, zero air flow, and no protection (i.e. car cover or window shades). If you left a chili cheese hot dog in the direct sunlight, in your car for 10 days straight youd get the same effect. Although not a tarpit smell...
