That's an extremely nice setup.

I'd only be running one 15" RE SE, though.
You're saying the Alpine MRP-M650 still wouldn't be enough?

And kidwolf, I'm not gonna lie, I'd much rather spend less cash for speakers that most people say are good.
So, I'm pretty sure I'm going with the RSD's, then.

As for the box, I'd love to wrap it in vinyl.
I just don't know how/where it'd be set up in my trunk.

I wan't to open the hatch and it be like "BAM", you know?

Uyles: If I were to do a single 15, I would design the box like this...

I worked that all out in AutoCAD, as you can see, I've already planned it out for my own car lol.

I would place that right up against the seat back, covered in just black carpet for me... but the two-tone carpet/vinyl would look sick too.

And no worries about the RSD's man, I love my set for what they cost me. You can get them for $80 shipped here: http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOENIX-GOLD-RSd-65cs-6-5-COMPONENT-SPEAKERS-RSd65cs_W0QQitemZ400008802138QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Speakers?hash=item400008802138&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

So, you could essentially give me the exact measurements for the box?
Would it be ported?

Yes it would be ported, 3 ft^3 @ 30Hz. And yea I could work up a design for you and give you exact dimensions pretty much.

Where are you getting that M650 from? I can't find many on the net.

If I could get the exact measurements sometime in the future, that'd be great.
That way, I could get someone to build it somewhere out in California, rather than have to get it shipped.

So, with both of the options listed above, what would be the best choice for me?

As for the M650, I'm getting it from http://www.sonicelectronix.com.

Here's a direct link:

If I were in your position, I would most likely go with the Alpine amps you've picked. They're going to be a LOT cheaper than the Kicker's and are every bit as great of amplifiers. They're a matching pair in terms of looks as well.

The SE15 will definitely **** off the M650 as well if you give it 600RMS @ 2 ohms.

Considering the budget you have to work with, option 1 is the best IMO. You can always upgrade when you have the money. That's part of the fun behind building your system

As far as the box goes, you let me know what kind of shape you'd like (if it's different from what I showed you) and I'll do my best to make a design up for you as close to what you'd like as possible.

I was thinking the same thing.

And for the box, I want it to be centered and against the seatback.

I'd love to have both of the amps mounted in front of it, possibly under some plexiglass (depending on the price).
If that's too expensive, where else would you suggest the amps be mounted?
There's always the opton of mounting them on the seatback themselves, or just hide them.

I would really love to show them off though, because the color scheme of the amps go exactly with the color scheme I'm looking to accomplish in the car. (With the silver/black enclosure, the actual interior colors, and now the amps).

I just want the box to look good with mounted amps being shown off in the car.

Hmm... give me some time to think about this design. I'm gonna see what I can do as far as plexiglass. That wouldn't be too expensive to do at all really. You can order plexi over the internet for pretty decent prices.

As far as mounting the amps under the plexi though, you might face some heat issues from sealing the amplifiers inside a compartment. Perhaps, if vented properly, they would do alright.

You could even make the front face of the enclosure out of plexi (Not the sub mounting surface, but the panel that faces the rear of the car). It would be like a little window into seeing the sub. The RE has a beautiful motor so it would be nice. If you wanted to get real snazzy, you could add some cold cathodes or LED's inside the box so it was lit up blue or red or white or whatever color you'd like!

...Damn, now I wanna build a new box :D

Wow.
Those were some of the best ideas I've heard.
A box like that would be pretty expensive though, wouldn't it?

Personally, I'd say screw carpet all together and wrap it in black vinyl along the sides, and silver vinyl along the top, or vice versa.

If there was plexi on the enclosure, I don't know how the vinyl would look.
But that plexi idea is definently a good one based on the price.
As for the amps being sealed, yeah, they'd have to be vented.
I could always just mount them in the floor and leave them without plexiglass, much like the first picture I posted.

But, as far as taking some time to think about it, please, go right ahead.
I've got a while before I put this project into progress, so you can just post the designs here or PM me.
Whether it be tomorrow or next week, I got time.

I can't thank you enough for all this has helped me. I've went from multiple options to finalizing the whole system (minus the box), in just one day!

Hahaha, well if you have any other questions, just let me know man I'm always happy to help.

As far as hiding the amps and concentrating strictly on making the box look nice, you could try to do it like I did. Check it out:

Would be a little bit difficult with the longer MRP amps, but it's definitely do-able.

Wow, that seems to be pretty nice.
I dunno though.
My style is more of a "BAM", when you open the hatch, you know?
Gotta make it look flashy.

They go with the color scheme too well to hide.

Hahaha, true, I would love to have them shown off, but didn't really have the cash to do it up right like I would have to. As far as a plexi window in the box goes, it would run you about $50-60 to have a 14x12" sheet shipped to you.

Do you like the shape of the box I had planned or would you prefer a straight up rectangular box?

Well, is that box tuned specifically for the RE SE 15"?

If not, it'd be cool if you could experiment with something like:

The side view is the best I can give you.
The circle is the port, and the frontal view would have the sub facing slightly slanted.
I wouldn't want it any higher than the seatback though.
I'm not sure if that's a viable option or not, but I've always loved the look of those.

Photoshop FTW!

Hahaha, that's definitely doable. It would have to look more like a right triangle in order for the 15" to have enough space on the face to be mounted to so it's not higher than the seat back. Do you care about having the cargo cover in the trunk though? The thing that doesn't let you see what's in the trunk from the hatch area?

And as far as the port goes, using a round aero port would be fine. And you could possibly mount the two MRP amps to the face of the box right along side the sub, that would be pretty nice

The cargo cover doesn't really matter.
The windows will be tinted at 15 anyway.

But yeah, a box that spans the whole seatback length shaped like a right triangle would be awesome.
Subwoofer on the driver's side, and the two amps mounted on the passenger's side.

I actually just went to the L.A. Auto Show, and I saw a bunch of cars with Rockford Fostgage subwoofers/amplifiers.

Any reviews on that equipment?

As a 17 year old kid, I'm not sure if I want just straight L or SQL.
Thoughts?

Stupid Auto Shows, making me rethink everything.
