Default Stereo output has a whirling, buzzing noise!

Well, I installed my Sirius satellite radio (Sportster 5), and used the stereo output wire from the Sportser to the plug in the armrest. Every time I listen to talk radio or a quiet place in a song, I hear a whirling buzzing noise whenever I accelerate.

I've tried using the FM modulator, but that sound isn't quite as good as the stereo output. Even on the best radio channel, the stereo output is still slightly better. True there is not noise when using the modulator, but I want the best sound possible.

I'm looking for the best way to get the sound, and I'm not sure what to do. I've bought a transformer (some sort of local ground loop thingy) from a local car audio shop, but they said that it may not work completely.

Any ideas? Besides switching to the FM modulator. New head unit, add an extra plug somehow on the existing HU, etc.

I wish I could get the CD quality sound from the satellite radio, but can't find how to do that on the forums here.

well, i remeber when i had the stock HU in my 07 tC, when i used the AUX input for my ipod i got the same result. upon asking my mechanic he explained to me that some times with cheap RCA cables they can pick up the sound from the alt? im not sure if thats exactly what he said but, try swaping your cables to ur speakers.

Its usually a sign of a bad ground somewhere or bad/cheap cables. The portable devices aren't going to give you CD quality anyway. I had one of those boxes specificially for my cd player and it sounded good but still wasn't CD quality.

watching... I get the same whining sound and my setup is completely stock. I usually get the whining at around 50 MPH in fifth gear, and it sounds like alternator whine.

All you need is a Ground Loop Isolator

it is definitely a bad ground somewhere, and you are hearing your alternator

If you had your sat hard wired you can change the ground to the radio ground. The aux uses that ground and it will help it out a little. What kind of cable did you buy?

Ditto on that...I had the same problem when I hooked up an XM radio through the AUX input on the car. Bought a ground loop isolator from radio shack and it solved the problem.

But what if your system is completely stock? I couldn't put one of those into my stock system.

There is always a way.
Try a 10Amp Noise Filter/Suppressor

Same thing happens to me with my Ipod and AUX cord. When people ask about that "whistle" everytime i press the gas, I tell them it's my Apple Intake :D, or Mac Turbo.
