Stock Scion Stereo Question???
How many drivers notice how crappy the stock stereo sounds??? I hated it at first and then changed the stereo settings from TC to XA. Did anyone also notice this and do this also? I've done this to a few of my TC friends, and they loved it.
If you haven't done this you're missing out big time!!!!!

I know what you mean. I liked xB a lot more than xA or tC, it almost made me second guess buying a new system for a while. However, in the span of 2 months, I went from a Pioneer 6900UB as my only upgrade for the USB input to dropping about $1400 on a sub, two amps, new components, wiring, and my beloved Eclipse 7200mkII :D
No looking back, I love my system.

They're just different DSP/EQ setting combinations (tC/xA/xB + Feel/Hear/Neutral), so forget about their names, it doesn't matter, pretend they're just "1, 2 & 3" instead, with 3 different modes for each.
If they had labeled them differently, I wonder if you'd have asked why "setting 1-Feel" is so bad, or if you ask only because it's labeled "tC".

Would you argue that the stock Nakamichi system in my father's Lexus sucks? I certainly hope not, you'd have a hard time proving that you're an audio enthusiast if you criticized Nakamichi.

when i said they all i meant all settings, ask anyone going from a LOC to a real hard wired preout helps immensely and yes stock radios can be good but i like the ability to set xover points and things of that nature, with any stock radio there less tuning than i require. and why did you say your dads lexus, feel like you gotta flex your dads money?

If I wanted to flex my dad's money, don't you think I would have embellished a bit? With a Bentley or Rolls perhaps?

OT:
i'd love to know how i'm the most spoiled brats on here, as i pay for EVERYTHING myself.
ON TOPIC:
for a simple sub you're correct but for anything else i'd recommend even a basic upgrade of the HU

The stock HU, with an LOC and decent outboard amp with HPF will sound better than an aftermarket HU using it's internal amp to power the mid/hi speakers.
So you can still use the stock HU and improve SQ with an outboard amp. Then upgrading to an aftermarket HU sending it's signal to the outboard amp would improve SQ a step further.
