The old PPI products were awsome, not to mention expensive. My old 10's retailed for 500 a piece. PPI got bought out from another company and thier subs at least are horriable. The cones are so flimsy.

The stock HU should have nothing to do with the type of amp if you are using RCAs. A good cheaper brand amp is Memphis. Go to a local car stereo shop, not Circuit city and talk to them since they usually give great advice. The Alpines might not give you the sound ou are looking for. Explore your options. Just don't buy cheap the first time becsue you will spend way too much money in the long run trying to get the right sound for you.

I have a stock HU and have had absolutely no problems with it. i blast my speakers(not to were it sounds too bad) but if your music has too much bass, simply turn down ur bass front the HU and turn up the sub bass with ur bass ****. i have been pounding with no aftermarket HU for about a year now. I mean c'mon, the radio unit IS pioneer in da tC!

Yeah, my stock HU used to be bass 0 treble +5, amp gain 45%. Now it's bass -5 treble +5 amp gain 100%. The music overall sounds a whole lot nicer. :D

UPDATE!

i have decided to go with ONE 12'' Audiobahn Flame Q sub and a Kenwood KAC-9152D amp. What are my options as far as line out converters go? what do some of you guys have?

You don't need a LOC with that amp, it accepts speaker level inputs. Just run your speaker wires from your deck to the amp. I would tap into the rear speaker wires

^^^ I think the rear speakers in the tC are attenuated as compared to the front speakers... I think you'd get better sound if you tapped the front mid instead of the rear mid....

I could be completely wrong, but those are my thoughts....

Or what wires do the coverters splice into on the stereo? i am looking to do this soon.
