Tapping into the cigarette lighter????
okay here is the deal
i have an led thing that i would to install
it has a black and red wire
black = ground
red= power source
(correct me if i am wrong)
but here is my problem
the cigarette lighter has a black and white wire.
i am not sure which one i am suppose to tap into....also where is there a good grounding spot down in the shifter area.....i see four big bolts that hold the shifter in place but i am not sure that i should use that???'
any help???
Thanks in advance!!!!

The white wire should be your power. Yes you could use one of the bolts from the shifter to ground your LED.
I guess a couple of questions/comments
1) What will the LED be used for? I am asking because running an LED into your cigarette lighter will turn the LED on everytime the vehicle is turned on, unless you have/are going to wire in a switch.
2) Does the LED already have a resistor wired in? Most LED's will require a resistor to be wired in to bring the voltage to the right level

NO NO NO i think the black is the power. i used my cigarette outlet to run my t v's. just look at it the wire that is connected to the middle of the outlet is power. the one that is connected to the side of cigarette lighter is ground

Like I said the Black wire is the power....oops I guess a real easy way would be to put a meter across it just to be sure.
Hey scottle what headrests/monitors do you have? Where did you get them? How much? I just installed my ps2 and am trying to find the best headrest setup.

i got it guys....for future reference
The cigarette wires
Black = ground
White = Live power source
So if you need to connect something with red and black
red goes to white
black goes to black
its looks great and ill post pictures in a another thread later
