Default TC/XA/XB OEM Auto dim mirror Can change color of Mood light

Bear with me as I feel good about my discovery, if you want the how to do it just go straight to the last paragraph

I think this has never been posted anywhere(because I searched on numerous places for hours and hours), and actually is not a part of the mirror instructions.
Due to the fact that I have the blue LED interior light kit, and just sent away for LED lights for all my interior lights, I wanted to see how I could go about changing the LEDs in the "mood light" (gotta love the name they gave it) in the OEM auto dimming mirror. So first stop was to go by Gentex's website to see what to do is something burnt out, how to swap it, well nothing there, except I noticed that it said that it was an option to have different colors, so searching high and low, no way to get this option, but I ran across many places praising the special color combination technology they came up with that uses a blue green and amber LED to create white light, blah, blah, and suddenly it hit me, and I had never really looked under the mirror, so I went to the car, turned it on, and saw that all 3 LEDs were amber, so I turned on the map light, and sure enough, all 3 LEDs go to bright white, hmm, so this is not an option really, the different color LEDs are built in, but how do you get the LEDs when in mood light mode to go from amber to blue, it's gotta be some kind of button combination right? it sure is, so here it is:

To change your OEM or aftermarket Gentex auto dimming mirror's "mood light" from amber to blue and vice versa, all you have to do is press and hold the map light button until the LEDs change to the color you want for your "mood light", when you got your color amber or blue let it go and now your mood light will be that color from now on. That was simple, I dont understand why they dont document this.

Well hope everyone enjoys this, if this had been discovered before, sorry for being all excited about nothing.

Just buy it from toyota or www.mitocorp.com or ebay the mirror doesnt occupy any more space than the regular one, so I dont see what the problem would be and eventhough it brings a harness, you can pretty much hardwire it to any switched 12v lead.

they used to say that it couldnt be used with the side airbags because they ran wires for the mirror up along the A pillar. so if the bag went off there would be a problem.

However they changed this recently and all the connections are made in the domelight housing. so the mirror is compatable with all scions now

I have an '07 tC with the auto dimming mirror installed and I see the "cool blue" color as something closer to green-ish color that does not match the factory blue neon lights at the feet and cup holders. I'm disappointed that the "cool blue" does not even come close to matching. At least the "warm amber" matches all other stock gauge and headunit color.
