Trunk space with subs
#2
i can't tell you from experience, but your not gonna have alot. if space is a concern, look into the elemental designs sq 10 enclosure, or the jl audio stealth sub kit.
ofcourse you could just get a box that is easy to unhook and remove when you need the extra trunk space.

I guess I should ask you to define "standard box". To some people, that's a six sided, sealed box. To others, it's more elaborate - fiberglassed into the spare tire well...like mine!
The idea of saving space is one that installers, and speaker engineers get asked all the time. "I want lots of bass, but I'm not going to give up any trunk space, and don't want to add a lot of weight..." This has lead to the development of shallow subwoofers, higher power handling, and smaller enclosures. There's a trade off though, known as "irons law" - the idea of choosing two: small box, low frequency extension, output.
There's a few other possibilities though. You can get a single sub with more excursion, and thus cutting your sealed box volume down from holding (2) 12"s, and/or deciding to dump the spare tire and utilize that space for the internal volume of your box - saving your cargo area for it's intended purpose. You could go with something like JL or eD's box too...
You need to figure out how much output you need, how much space you're willing to give up - and where that space will come from.
Cheers,
Robyn
