Quick question. Would a short shifter for another car work? My friend is trying to do a group buy of some auto parts and says he can get me a really good short shifter for cheap but it's not specificaly designed for the tC. Would it still work? Or should I go with TWM or another company?

ummm. No. You can only the specific shifter on your car. Like you cant use a honda short shifter on a subaru. Think about it. Its different. There maybe multiple cars with the same transmissions that can use the same SS, but if he's geting some kinda weird one most likely it wont work.

theres some comlicated synchronization that takes place during a shift and it all starts at the shifter. what would be the advantage of something designed for a different car?
glad you like your twm. i've got the trd kit and love it too.

I just completed the installation of the TRD Short Shifter and TRD shift light kit in the TC on Friday. The shifter kit was clean, quick and easy, it even comes with a TRD leather shift ****. Good directions and easy to install, less than an hour if your taking your time. The shift kit was easy also, little longer to install as your disassembling the dash and tapping into the factory system and ECU, don’t want to make any mistakes. I have to say both are top notch kits but what else would you expect from TRD. I should have something put together on the install.
