Default What is Pioneer Premier sub ? ? ?

What the hell is the difference between these two models??
Aside from one says "Pioneer" and the other says "Premier."

TS-SW1041D
TS-SW2541D
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...oofers/Shallow

Same exact specs, same exact price.
I can't imagine them making a new model that is exactly the same, but says Premier instead.

A good explanation would be greatly appreciated.

I want 2 10's instead of just 1.
The box I am getting is stealth. It is basically the same box as the ED box.
What I'm looking for is opinions on the 10" Pioneer shallow-mounts and suggestions for a good amp to power 2 of them.

I was thinking of going with the ED NINe.2x amp.
Anyone using this amp?

my buddy is doing about the same but is using the mtx thunderthins as they are more reliable and sound a ton better than the pioneer shallow subs

I've kinda already decided on the Pioneers, because I know they will fit in the box I plan on getting and I've read a lot of good things about them.
I understand that the whole "this sub is better than that sub" thing can be very subjective.
Do you have actual firsthand experience with the Pioneer shallows?
If so, maybe the amp or head unit or speaker box wasn't very good?

i have more "second hand" experience. i'd heard them in custom made box that a local shop built. his HU was cheap aftermarket but was ran by one of the new alpine amp's in a crx. but not in a tc. i'd heard the mtx's in stealth style in a tc and thought sounded good; tahts why i'd said that. the whole "this sub better" type deal or preference didn't play a factor in my statement for a change (since i'm pro kicker for subs/amps and polk for components lol) but was just throwing in my 2 cents

Yeah I hear ya... I just never know who to trust on these things.
I've read a lot of really good things about them... people saying how shocked they were at how they sounded, then there will be one or two people who say they sound like complete garbage.
I think I'm either going with the Pioneers or Elemental Designs SQ10 subs.
I've been wanting to go with ED because I've read a lot of good stuff about them, and like the idea of supporting the lesser-known company over the corporate giant...especially when people seem to give so much praise to ED's product quality and customer service.

Which exact box do you have? Did you make it or did ED make it?
I'm guessing you have 2 SQ10 subs in it ?
There's a guy on here who made a stealth box similar to ED's design, and he has 2 Pioneer shallows in it. Check out my thread in the WANTED section of the Classifieds forum for pics.

Can you post pics of your box?
What amp are you using and how do you like the sound??

Thanks

If I remember correctly the Premier line is kind of a "premium" version of the original Pioneer products.
They have a longer warranty period and I think they use better materials when making them.

Ok, that sounds like it makes sense...but why would they list them as the same price and with all the same specs? Could it all just be a typo on their webpage?

ya their premium line is more of a top of the line stuff. i used to have a premiere head unit and liked it better than the regular pioneer one because it had more options for tuning, more power within the deck as well as more options n what not. if possible i'd check a local shop and see if they have premiere stuff; as that is usually where to find since best buy and CC just carry the basic pioneer line

So are all the specs on their webpage wrong?
Check out the link in the original post.
I'm gonna try calling Pioneer tomorrow and asking them what the exact difference is.
If and when I find out, I'll post it here for anyone who is curious.

My tC came with the Pioneer "Premium" head unit... is that the same as the Pioneer "Premier" ?
It was a pretty nice stereo for being stock, but I definitely like my new Kenwood better :D

there's no difference. I have a Pioneer 10 in my car and it's the exact same thing as my brothers Premier. I have mine in a stealth box next to my spare and it sounds great in the car. Not so much outside of the car but when do i listen to it outside of the car? Never. I like it just fine. I'm sure there is better stuff out there but for the price this sounds just fine to me. the only thing i hate is the way the hatch floor rattles when the sub hits. Here read this

I spoke to a tech support guy at Pioneer a little while ago, and he said they are indeed basically the same thing, except the Premier comes with a 2 yr. manufacturer's warranty.

He also said they might use some better quality parts, like the glue, etc. ??? I dunno how true that is, but it's what he says.
Every single spec listed on Pioneer's webpage is exactly the same for both subs.

I had an ED dealer tell me they would. here is what they said.

Pioneer's 10" slim will fit. I have a friend who runs it in the stealth box. Sound quality is not as good with it, but output is quite a bit better. My personal choice is the Pioneer between that and the SQ10. SQ10 just isn't loud enough by itself.

If you talk about this matter with anyone else, please do not bring my name up. I'm contractually obliged not to talk about eD in any negative manner since I'm a local dealer for them.

If you need any help with this or any audio matter, feel free to contact me.
