Whats a good amp to use?
I have a single 12" Kicker CompVR, dual 2ohm voice coils (2 x 2ohm) . It is rated at 400 rms (800 peak) and I am trying to find an amp that would be best for it without being underpowered. Since this is my first system, I am not looking to spend too much, hoping for something under $200 (prefferable under 150) . Any suggestions?

^^^ you're not going to find one of those 3 amps that runs 400-500 watts x 1 for less than $200....
oh, and power is power.... sure there are some with less distortion and blah blah blah.... but to say that a kicker sub sounds best with a kicker amp is blatantly false.... there are MANY different aspects that make an amp produce accurate, clean sound and brand name matching is NOT one of those aspects....

check out the Kicker zx350.2. Bridged @ 4ohm it is rated at 350 WRMS which will push your Comp VR and sound very good. Those can be had on our favorite auction site for under 200 bucks and they are brand new.
SCI_TC_GUY! your are correct, power is power. However, it's how that power is dispersed and the quaility of the internal power supply. The old saying "you get what you pay for" holds 100% true in this case. Not all amps are created equal and some are underrated and some are grossly overrated. Kicker amps in my experience have always been slightly underrated in terms of actual power ratings.
Borisimo! if money is of real concern you could also check out the old school MTX amps. They can be found for less than 100 bucks in good condition on the bay in either 2 or 4 ch configurations which would work well for your application. Don't let the specs fool you though they are grossly underrated on actual power and at the time were the amp of choice for serious comp guys.
Also, for your budget, look for Eclipse. They have a 2ch model either a PA or EA series. They always sell for around 150 new and less used. They will push a 12 otr 2 10's quite nicely. As long as you stay with a good quality amp you will have no problems with the sound you are looking for.
Good luck and post back when you find " the one"
